Pakistan should adopt a strategy to reduce its land forces and increase its air power capability, as being done by other countries of the world.
The advice was given by former vice-chief of air staff and founder of Pakistani aircraft JF-17 Thunder Air Marshal (retired) Shahid Lateef at a seminar entitled Pakistan`s problems and their solutions held here at TECH Club on Sunday.
He also said that Pakistan should portray its image as a peaceful country instead of being seen as a `militant state`.
Mr Lateef said though US had termed JF-17 Thunder project a paper project, his 15-member team successfully completed the initiative within a record time of two-and-a-half years. He said Pakistan should strengthen its relations with China instead of depending on the US which had never been a reliable friend.
He said Pakistan had been spending precious foreign exchange on the purchase of expensive `nuts and bolts` of military equipment bought on the terms and conditions of US and other western powers.
