Everyone hoped for Peaceful Middle East.

The west initially though to topple regimes in Middle east to make it a better place to live but I believe they did not foresee the threat it can attract once the regimes are out and non element state can take over, examples could be of Libya and other Middle east regions engulfed with internal crisis and civil war. Did west had any substantial plan to topple regimes and rebuild for better living, has West ever had a sound policy for these regions who are now struggling with threat like IS, revived Al Qaeda and other threats, did West over calculated the repercussions of Killing OBL that it will dismantle Al Qaeda. This is not how things were supposed to be. A little over four years ago, the Middle East and north Africa were in the grip of the Arab Spring, a series of revolts against largely secular regimes that raised hopes of fundamental change – change that would embrace the liberal democracy and capitalism that have made Western nations so rich and free but this has now taken most of the Middle east on verge of ethnic war which world and they see as religious war.
Islamic state, Al Qaeda and offshoot of Al Qaeda in Syria is a by product of such endeavours by west. Once flourished Libya is now on a verge of Bankruptcy in spite of abundant black gold available there. Human Trafficking in on rise, Egypt again descending into chaos, Yemen is burning and Regional powers and busy in proxy war. It is astonishing that West has weapons and funds to supply but no firm policy to tackle the issue. If you reckon the casualties in these states ever since Arab spring started with the suicide of a young Libyan to topple government it is enormous. We hoped for Democracy but we got strong on state elements.

1)Is it too late to resolve the issue now or are we just letting these non state element to grip the region slowly and steadily?

2)Can west come up with a policy to play pivotal and respected role in the region to stabilize it or they will just keep on playing blind game?

Initially, they wanted to seize opportunity to sponsor some factions of society in the region. It didn't work out the way they wanted. First, in Libya they did intervention, they didn't care what followers. All they care is about the oil. In Syria, FSA was succesful until Hezbollah intervened, then many Islamist groups formed. In Egypt, Muslim Brotherhood won, West toppled them. So West leaves no option for the people except resorting to violence. This is why insurgencies are taking place. Right now West has no strategy, besides hoping to prolong conflict in Syria and keep Baghdad secure. Because of this it has now become playground for Iran, Saudi and Turkey. Most likely scenario is war between Saudi and Iran. But Syrian rebel victory won't be tolerated by West in my opinion. A syrian rebel victory will be significant, it might draw Iran in and become regional war or draw US invasion. Israel just thinks about short term interests, it wants West to oppose both sides, so it constantly rambles about Hezbollah/Iran. In reality, it doesn't want either side completely defeated. If Syrian rebels win, then Israel will change its mind quickly.

It is complex situation, too much to go over. It could get out of control, if it does militias will replace governments and no doubt it will draw world into ground invasion of ME. It's lose-lose situation for everybody, just a matter of time before average person notices.

There has been Sunni V's Shia conflict for centuries.

The problem is that Islam plays a dominant role in the region's politics. Islam should not even come into it. Religion should be a personal choice for each individual. The state's role in religion should only be to protect individual's rights to practice it - whatever religion.

Well if you study Middle East there were conflicts even before Islam. Sunni and Shias are living side by side for 1400 years and only recently we have seen spike in their hostility towards each other.
