Star Online Report

Faster internet service has been switched back on 37 hours into its suspension.

The 3G and 4G service have been resumed at 10:00am, a spokesperson with the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) told The Daily Star this morning.

Most of the private telecommunications operators also confirmed about it.

The services were switched off at 9:00pm on December 30 (election day) three hours after restoring the mobile internet.

During the period, people were not able to use the internet on their phones, stream or upload pictures or videos.

This the third time the telecom regulator shut down the 3G and 4G services in last two days.

According to the BTRC, there were 8.78 crore active internet connections in the country as of June this year and mobile phone connections accounted for 93.43 per cent.

As of November of 2018, over 6 crore people are currently using the 3G and 4G mobile internet.

According to BTRC data, there were 57.35 lakh broadband connections in November.

On December 26, the BTRC in a meeting with the International Internet Gateway representatives said social media sites, especially Facebook, would be blocked if needed.

BTRC in the night of the following day slowed down mobile internet by shutting down 3G and 4G services. However, the service was restored on Friday morning 10 hours into its suspension.

Then why should Khalida Zia convicted in corruption charges be out when there is an election?

Khaleda and her party BNP is a cancer in Bangladesh politics. She along with her son r corrupt to the core. Its great that finally she's getting punished for the money that she has stolen throughout her political career. She's the grandmother of corruption.

Go forbid, if she was indeed in power she would've sold the entire country for her personal gain. Her corrupt son is still leading a lavish lifestyle in England with the money that he has stolen with the help of his mother. Now its time to bring back tarique rahman back to the country and throw him behind the bar. Don't really know why hasina is allowing that thief to live like a king in London.

Two election observing groups which has been in most of the news with some foreigners are based in Bangladesh and likely fake/name based or created prior to election or planted by Awami League Government:

Collected from facebook:

"SAARC Human Rights Foundation" and "Election Monitoring Forum" - EXPOSED

These two organisations have been parading around some foreign looking observers since election day who are making claims that the election was free, fair and festive. Like everybody else, I also thought they are actually teams sent by SAARC. But their activities seemed so odd that it was almost unbelievable that they were real. So I decided to do some google searches about them and this is what I found.

1. SAARC Human Rights Foundation is a purely Bangladeshi organisation (https://sarchumanrights.org/) with no links to SAARC. SAARC has six "Apex Bodies" (see photo) and seventeen "Recognised Bodies" (see photo) and the SAARC Human Rights Foundation is found in neither list. It has no links to SAARC whatsoever. On what basis it carries the name "SAARC" is unknown and is probably illegal.

2. SAARC Human Rights Foundations is headed by one Mawlana Abed Ali and this organisation has been holding events where they have insisted on holding elections under Awami League government (see photo). What activities this organisation actually carries out (if at all) is unknown because the "Activities" and "Media Gallery" pages in its website are empty.

3. In its "Adviser Panel" it has two Awami League MPs (see photo)

3. On 22 November 2018, the Organisation's leaders met with the Prime Minister and presented her a miniature boat (see photo).

4. The other organisation "Election Monitoring Forum" is an organisation with no website and a google search reveals that they did not exist prior to this election, as such it might seem that it is a made up organisation.

Yet, all the media houses have for some unknown reason covered their "primary evaluation" of the election and have assumed that they are an international organisation with credibility without any question about their credentials.

Free and fair election is possible under this government:

She is not only corrupt but she is a supporter of radical element as well. She will spoil the country BD if she comes into power. It will be a free hand to terrorist like many Islamic countries. BD has chosen a path which has a capably to be a role model for many Islamic and non Islamic nation. I am very happy that BD people did not let this possibility down.

It is not about Khalida Zia It is about the whole party that has been put in jail to rig elections.
The case was filed at the time of caretaker govt of Mr Fakhruddin Ahmed. That time few case was filed against Hasina too!
And more is coming tomorrow is hearing of Niko corruption case of khaleda zia, that case was also filed by Fakhruddin govt, not by Hasina.

It isn't just about khalida zia. It is about the manner in which shk has crushed opposition parties even before the elections. Then the blatant rigging in elections was a clear mockery of the concept of democracy.
