EU shocked by killings at border

The killing of Bangladesh civilians on the border by the Indian Border Security Force is shocking and should be strongly addressed, Jean Lambert of European Parliament said yesterday.

She made the remarks while replying to queries at a press conference in Dhaka yesterday.

“This is going on for a considerable period,” she said adding that the matter would be raised in the European Parliament and with the Indian ambassador in Brussels, the de facto capital of the European Union. It will also be taken up with the European delegation visiting India.

Lambert is the leader of a seven-member delegation of the European Parliament for Relations with South Asia that came to Dhaka on a five-day visit on February 19.

Without mentioning the BSF chief's name, she said the comments that the killing is inevitable were outrageous in terms of human rights.

European Union Ambassador in Dhaka William Hana was present at the press conference.

It is good that that everyone is opening their eyes regarding the barbarism of the bhartis.

whats wrong with BSF shooting down illegals at the border?
They dont wanna get shot? simple, enter the country legally. Plus if BDs hate India so much & with our economy stinking and all, why even bother entering!? clearly there is reason to believe they might have intentions of concern to our country's security.

Even then the BSF has shown considerable restraint time and again in handling the incursions and their efforts must be commended!
