The European Union combined a statement of solidarity with Jordan over the killing of one of its military pilots by Islamist fighters with criticism of its immediate execution of two Iraqi jihadists.

"While all efforts must be made to counter terrorism and hold the perpetrators accountable, our reaction to the threat posed by (Islamic State) needs to be consistent with our common values on justice and the rights of prisoners," foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Our action has to be guided by the respect of international human rights law and humanitarian law. The European position against death penalty remains unchanged and we believe capital punishment does not serve any deterrent purpose."

Condemning the killing of captured F-16 pilot Mouath al-Kasaesbeh, she praised Jordan's role in the "front line in the battle" against Islamic State and taking in refugees from Syria and Iraq.

On Wednesday, Jordan hanged Sajida al-Rishawi, an Iraqi woman who took part in suicide bomb attacks 10 years ago, and a senior al Qaeda prisoner, Ziyad Karboli, also an Iraqi.

Meh,i can imagine some of those EU pussyes fainting at the news of hanged terrorists.

EU has no capacity to conduct war what so ever anymore. All their militaries save for France and the UK are token militaries meant for nothing but show.

The EU is built upon the ashes of the second world war, extreme pacifism will only begets weakness in an age of lions and Wolves.

To be fair to them it was a very mild rebuke in between mostly supportive words. I don't think they wanted to upset anybody.

Wrong. If Europe were to be engulfed in another major world war then those armies and soldiers would perform. History shows this. Europeans killed 60 million of each other during WW1 and WW2. The conflicts in the ME for the past 100 years are nothing in comparison.

The German, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Danish, Swedish, Dutch, Greek etc. armies are no pushovers. Let's be serious for once.

I agree with your first statement. But disagree with your second statement.
Pacifism has nothing to do with different perspective of justice and false sense of superiority european governments exhibit.
As for pacifism, the most pacifist amongst them saved their citizens from world war 2.( sweden )

what's your personal opinion about hanging the terrorist ?
@Gabriel92 your's too ?

Justice served.

My country just paid some 200.000 euros in fines issued by EU courts because rapists and murderers complained about "bad conditions in jails".

"Romania why you no give cable tv and internet to convicted fellons?"

Well, the reason why Eastern Europeans prefer to do crime in Scandinavia and Western Europe is because the jails here are a joke. It's like a 5 star hotel for people from poor backgrounds outside of Western Europe. I have seen Eastern European criminals say the exact same when caught in France or Denmark. Of course not in person but on TV.

Judging by the political climate in Europe then I think that it's fair to say that tougher laws WILL arrive. Finally.

Here in Denmark they are talking about creating a DNA register for everyone that is born in Denmark. Of course with the aim to combat crime. Apparently 75% of all people support this. Had this been 20-30 years ago it would be unthinkable. Hell just 10 years ago.

I personally heard a Romanian convicted for theft in Germany saying that "he was living la vida in German jails and if he ever runs out of means to support himself he'll do a crime in Germany again because he can't loose either way-he escapes or sits comfy in a jail there".That's no deterence,no deterence at all.

Unfortunately the death penalty is a no go in EU. Thanks to pussies as you say. I don't understand it really. But as long as there are more Markus' then this will remain as such. I tell you that in France then the support for the death penalty is significant. The majority still disagrees but it's not a huge difference.

@Gabriel92 will confirm.

Well, Romania is moving forward like Eastern Europe as a whole. Give it a few decades and they won't say this anymore. It's the same pattern everywhere. In the GCC there are migrants from Africa, Asia etc. who prefer to stay in detention centers and jail rather than going home. Same with refugees from Sub-Saharan and Northern Africa in Southern Europe. This trend will just increase as the planet's population is increasing and there is no end in sight of defeating poverty altogether. More people = less resources.

Look at a country like Nigeria. Almost 200 million people and they are breeding like rabbits (sorry but that's the reality). How in the hell is such a huge population foreseeable for the future? Well, I don't know. Some of the expected populations of Sub-Saharan African countries in 2100 are just staggering. Yes, Africa is very sparsely populated but still.

This is how prisoners live in Europe.

Look at the state of the once proud German military, when Prussian militarism was the gold standard of militaries world wide. Do you really think that Europeans have the capacity to see so many of their soldiers fall and so many of their civlians die in the same capacity they did in world war 1 and 2? I doubt that. They are all relying on the U.S. for protection while completely ignoring their military. They can not sustain a war without the U.S.

It is not the pacificim or is however that if Russia today decided to annex half of Europe, Europeans will all look westwards towards the U.S. and the U.S. can in no way handle a long military campaign in the same capacity they used to. They even won't support fighting their own mess in the form of ISIS. Truth is, the west as we know it is ending.
