Good find dash. Today seen a advertisement of PM inaugurating the largest shipyard in India for Pipavav which will also make naval ships as well. asia's largest shipyard also under construction in TN by L&T.

As far as analysis goes, Agni-3 is an ICBM considering its dia, payload, stages an propulsion or atleast as far as range is concerned........ i think India didn't mentioned correct range of the missile.

thats awesome news for Navy!!!

The most happening thing in that article is that Indian navy has finalized the order for Advanced Hawk Eye 2d Version for shore based version....!!!!...Imagine you have additional AWACS covering your shores....I always thought we are about buying it but never knew we have placed order...

For Agni 3 yes its propulsion system and most probably the pay load capacity has made it to the ICBM class..So if India didnt mention the right range of the missle then I will say the real range is clasified?...

.
E&Y is auditing Indian nuke capable Missiles? I don't think E&Y gets that chance with the US Army :P.

Thats true..we have not placed orders or, are considering it as of now..no need to get excited about this... HAWK 2-D is offered but was not considered seriously..

From Ernst and Young.... everything is nearly OK except Nirbhay which is a high subsonic CM not supersonic but don't know from where they get the Surya missile!!!

No Jha, Agni 3 being an ICBM is what is according to the report, may be the real range is still classified, I guess so, but Regarding Hawkeye..

Iam not excited at all....But

I found various links that suggest that this AC is coming to Indian navy. i will post some links of news articles, however I have posted anotheer report from E&Y, read there....

Quite a surprising fact, isnt it....but they also say that project not officially confirmed by GOI..

Both Northrop and Indian Navy have discussed about E-2D. There were RFI, presentations and may be observation of the aircraft by IN but the deal definitely not signed or yet to be signed or canceled.

See even I got surprized, coz I know what all of us know, and that is the deal is not signed yet for sure, but after reading this report, I was surprized, and I checked the net, some sources confirmed that its signed...

And Indian navy has asked for a shore based version, and the wings will be changed to wet wings to add more range to this jet.
However its clear now that its not yet signed.

One thing is bugging me..Since any how this will be shore based, why not buy more PHALCONS..

In August 2009, the U.S. Navy and Northrop Grumman briefed the Indian Navy on the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye. This covered potential use of this platform to satisfy its current shore-based and future carrier-based Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) requirements. The Indian Navy reportedly expressed interest in acquiring up to six Hawkeyes.

This is what WIKI-mahraj has to say...

hmmm..I think Phalcons are purely IAF plan and Navy as hinted, will be going for bigger size Aircraft carrier in future, so they might want to adapt themselves with this platform, as they have to operate this if they are going for bigger sized ACs, coz when they will be operating far from shore, I mean we can understand that Hawkeye is logical than phalcons...

Ok, I have one thing to ask, The report also says 6 scorpens are in making and another 6 on order. Is this true?
