Erdoğan slams preachers over remarks on women, calls on Diyanet to take more active role

Can you cut it out with the over-the-top prejudice for a day at least? Calm down for once..

Reported. (racism and prejudice)
Let's not be backstabbers mate, a person with a bias and dishonest heart can get on nerves and deserves a bit of spanking.

Where is the source for this caveat on "Recontructruction of Religious Thought in Islam" . Or are you applying your own rendering on it.
A Muslim knows what are the primary and mandatory sources of Islamic knowledge. The author himself was well versed with Holy Quran and a large collection of Islamic literature. This book is more of philosophical discourse and reflects author's personal opinion and research. Under no circumstances it can supplant the main sources of Islamic knowledge regardless of author's stature but it can supplement if the reader has sound knowledge of the holy Quran. Furthermore, he was a philosopher and not a religious scholar.

Thanks. Shows we can have our differances but we stand on the same platform. It's Friday. And I am off for my daily jog before it get's dark.
With time and maturity, I harbour less and less grudges and favour discussion especially between serious members. However ignorant trolls should be treated differently because they just waste time and derail the thread.

I don't have time now and I will ignore the ad hominem but what exactly is "Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam" by Sir Allama Iqbal driving at? Copies are available online for instance from Iqbal Academy. Take the time to read it please.

There's no such thing as ad hominem in my post, so the question to ignore shouldn't arise.

That's what I am asking you, what exactly are you looking for in reform relating to Islam and what exactly have you come to after reading Reconstruction of religious thoughts in Islam.

Don't worry, I have read the book 1+ times and I don't see the reason why anyone who has studied this book would quote from wikipedia - I repeat, whoever has wrote the article and quoted from reconstruction in wikipedia is a buffoon.

.
Point is Islam cannot be reformed, if a person says to reform Islam, he/she saying to change the religion which is unacceptable.

Send mullah yildiz to ISIS territories. He deserve them not Turkey.
Unfortunately for him it's not safe to send him by road so there would be no choice but to drop him in from the sky

"If the faith of all religious groups in this country is guaranteed in the constitution, and the state’s equal distance to all religious groups is a foundation, why do you need to emphasize Islam? If I can live my faith as a Muslim the way I want to, the issue is over. If a Christian can live his/her Christianity, if a Jew can live his/her Jewishness or an atheist can live his/her atheism, the issue is also over for them.”

When Turkey has basically well trenched enemies at the gates, supported by the entire might of the Western world, some folks are trying cheap methods to divide the Turkish society further by making some "R" rated comments!!!! These guys should be investigated to check whether they're proxies or not....

Diyanet released a statement regarding the issue.

Turkey’s top religious body head urges Islamic preachers to be careful when making comments on women

Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) head Ali Erbaş has urged Islamic preachers across Turkey to be careful when making comments about women.

Speaking at a meeting on March 10 in the southeastern province of Hakkari, Erbaş said the way to preclude the abuse of religion was by revealing the truths about Islam.

“Even preachers who speak and work with good intentions and sincerity should be extra careful not to make their comments open to misinterpretation. Everyone who writes, talks, or reports about Islam has to be more careful,” Erbaş said.

“On July 15 [2016 coup attempt], we saw how all the truths of Islam were misused and exploited. We have seen how terrorist organizations, especially those like the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant [ISIL], exploited Islam’s principles and concepts. It is abusing the religious feelings of our citizens with the basic sources of religion and information. It is the abuse of our religion that gets used for commercial concerns and instrumented for others’ own benefits,” he added.

Erbaş’s statement came after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan slammed some Islamic writers over their sexist comments.

Erdoğan also called on Diyanet to take a more active role in adapting religious practices to current social conditions.

“We would never take into account the words of some marginal people who aim at nothing but to abuse the values of our religion, our nation,” Erdoğan said at an event on March 8 to mark International Women’s Day in Ankara.

His comments came after conservative Social Fabric Foundation head Nureddin Yıldız stirred debate by making a controversial comment on violence against women.

“Women should be grateful to God, because God allowed men to beat women and be relaxed,” Yıldız said on March 3 in a video posted online.
