Erdogan disputes Treaty of Lausanne, prompting response from Athens

But it's an undeniable fact that the majority in Turkey demands a renegotiation.

Which will never happen. The most positive outcome would be to settle the 6/12 miles dispute with Greece on satisfying terms.

Here's another AKP-ian(an MP if I understood well) showing his historical prowess

Yeah right,Crete was lost in 1913 after the Balkan Wars like many other islands on his map,Rhodes lost in 1912 to the Italians, nothing to do with Lausanne.
You quoted a known internet troll in Turkey, unfortunately hes the mayor of Ankara, one time he asked who broke the sprinkler in front of town hall on twitter.

A satisfying term for Turkey is 6 nmi everything else is not.

. . .
Well, best of luck,at least it sounds doable if you ask me,unlike renegociating Lausanne.
6 nmi is the status-quo, its Greece thats uncomfortable with it not Turkey, thats why Greece is reporting thousands of airspace violations per year while Turkey doesnt recognize Greek claims.
About Lausanne Erdogan is just promoting his 2023 campaign nothing to be taken serious just as bringing back capital punishment.

I know all of this, this is why i can imagine a positive outcome on this seeing that it's allready the status quo maybe Greece will move on and things can settle down.Ofcourse, poking them by bringing the Lausanne discussion (even if it was for internal consumption) ,isn't helping.

Forget about 12 Nmi....

The Turkish National Assembly issued a resolution on 8 June 1995 granting the Turkish government full and perpetual competence to declare war (casus belli) (authorizing it to use military means against Greece), should Greece decide to extend its territorial waters over 6 nautical miles.

Nobody poked them...it was an internal dispute....also no one questioned the legitimacy of the treaty of Lausanne.

But we are used to these Greek reactions, nobody cares or answers Greek statements about the incident......Typical Greeks with their Turcophobia.

Hence me saying that it's allready a fait accompli.

I'd imagine Turks wouldn't be to happy if Tsipras went infront of Parliament saying that Lausanne is a disgrace because they didn't get Constantinople.

Yeah, kind of but whatever we say, they are not happy.... :meeting:

And we all know what lies behind....they know too.

Many of these Islands had Turkish-majority populations before they were forced out along with Muslims in the Balkans.

Bahceli knows best: We solved all our problems so we can now concentrate on something 93 years ago?
