Erdogan calls Shia paramilitary groups ‘terrorists’, threatening Turkish intervention in Iraq

If he'll chose to enter Iraq... I think he will mostly take the North Montainous area ( Sinjar and such) with Peshmerga help and US benediction. I don't think he will go further south. It will be problematic for Him and for everyone around the block, since he will have no legitimacy to do so.

But if the Scenario with a kurdistan seeking independance, and Iraq central gov couldn't accept a pacific way to do so..; Then I will not be suprised to see a support to Barzani... and therefore it will give him legitimacy to go south and even South-West ( Sunni majority) since his troops will be welcomed more easily than Center Iraq or South East...

In conclusion..his influence will be only the PKK areas ( Sinjar and co) at least for a first stage push.
His real prize is Mosul.

He wants Mosul.

Well Mosul is like Jerusalem... Everyone wants it... I don't think they will jump on it at first...
That will trigger a full scale conflict... They will use the Jews tactics.. take everything around and no oen will open their mouth.. till you get everything... in silence...

1. Remember, the Turkish government said before the start of the Op Euphrates Shield that they're planing more ground ops after finishing the current one.

2. Right now, they haven't decided yet whether they intervene in Tel Abyad in Syria or in North Iraq.

3. My opinion is that they will choose Iraq over Syria.

4. We all know that the Iraqi government can't do a sh't against Turkey. Be realistic.
I agree with point 4, and this is really why he'll choose Iraq over Syria.

He knows he can't enter Rojava since it's filled with US military bases.

So he'll enter Iraq to help Barzani's Peshmerga replace the PKK in Sinjar and then to take over the Turkmen areas of Mosul and its vicinity.

He'll probably encourage Barzani's Peshmerga to enter Rojava / N. Syria as well.

i am amazed Erdogan wants action against ISIS and some writer is propagating the facts.. this is now not a shia sunni war anymore...

Erdogan and his party see things like so:

1. Privately encourage Barzani to declare Kurdish independence, but publicly denounce it.

2. Add some Sunni Turkmen and Arab areas to Iraqi Kurdistan.

3. Let that area secede from the rest of Iraq.

4. Annex it into Turkey via a referendum.

So it's Turkey redrawing its southern borders and gobbling up Iraqi territory.

He would've done the same in Aleppo and northern Syria had it not been for the US military presence in Rojava.

And, this is just the stretching before the warm-up at the home turfs. The real game is a decade away....

I don't think Erdogan is into the "expension" of a physical Turkey border... But mostly an expension of a Border of Influence... With Mostly Turkmen in South and a Friendly Kurdistan in Iraq. As for North Iraq, it's will mostly like a Golan thingy... He will enter it and stay on it... for a long unoffcial time for Security purpose...

As for the kurdistan independence...He will support it publicly and even defend it Internationally... It's a beautiful bargain chip :)

As For North Syria... Well today it's not in Turkey favor with SDf/YPG influence but SDF as of today is becoming an Arab majority force and tensions are growing...like the "mistaken" airstrike on Arab fighters... by YPG command... .
When ISIS compaign in Raqqa and mostly Syria is finished... the SDF/YPG will explode with Arabs wanting to gov their own areas... and at that moment you will get a Turkey who will support them and even Use his own force to invade the FULL "ROJAVA"...

I mostly agree with you, except for the Syria part.

I think Rojava Peshmerga will eventually replace the YPG in the Kurdish areas of Syria. And these areas will be annexed by Iraqi Kurdistan, which, in turn, will either be legally annexed by Turkey via a referendum or turn into a de facto Turkish vassal state.

If the PMF not chocking him he wouldn't rage against them for the second time

@Kuwaiti Girl
can you tell me why the gcc against the pmf if they are not scaring them some how

look at this

Abdullah Al-Nafisi is a muppet, and most of his analyses are a complete and utter joke.

Educated Kuwaitis don't take his words seriously. His followers are mostly uneducated people.

First I don't think that Syrian Kurd will easily let Peshmerga into their territories and even less giving pesh full power upon them.
And I don't think Barzani himself want to send his troops there either...

It's not like that.

There's already a pro-Turkish Syrian Kurdish group known as the Rojava Peshmerga, which is backed by Barzani.

Most Syrian Kurdish fighters can easily switch allegiance anyway. The most important thing is the leadership.

With American pressure, it can happen. America wants Turkey and the Kurds to get along in order to counterbalance Iran and its Shia proxies in the region.

So you'll most likely see many Syrian Kurds from the YPG switching over to the Rojava Peshmerga and pledging allegiance to Barzani.

Then Iraqi Kurdistan will declare independence and annex the Kurdish areas in northeast Syria.

Turkey will gladly annex the Turkmen areas in northwest Syria as well, like it did with Hatay nearly a hundred years ago.

This is how it'll play out, in my opinion. And America will fully back it because it'll be seen as a counter-move against Iran.
