Engineers say A380 should be grounded

not sure if our runways are build to handle that , lenght could be an issue
runways can bt the taxi ways and the terminal buildings cant, so i think they will start with the new islamabad airport

.
A380 can carry 850 passengers in one go in a single class configuration..I don't understand why budget airlines is not looking towards it.

Price escalation , delayed deliveries , future roadmap unclear ....

There is not a single A380 that has been configured to carry that many passengers and no airline will ever do so

*sigh* No surprise there. I mean, it's a big plane!

There are some major differences between Boeing aircraft and Airbus. I am a aircraft mechanic and currently work on Boeing aircraft. I have talked to mechanics that have Airbus experience and the general consensus is Airbus engineers their aircraft for use during a specific life time frame. Thickness of skins and frames are designed with this in mind.

Boeing over engineers their aircraft and uses thicker materials. Their are some very high time Boeing aircraft that are flying around in great shape. The USAF B52's have been flying for a long time. According to Wikipedia their has not been a new B52 made since 1963. There are some very high time Boeing airplanes that are US Carriers mainline ships.

I have flown in a few Airbus aircraft and never had a problem. It is my personal opinion but I rather rely on a good human being behind the controls instead of a computer. However, Boeing is going this route too as time progresses. I am not convinced about the 787 being made from composite materials. I think this could be a problem in the future. Time will tell.

I doubt the Airbus A380 needs much more runway than a Boeing 747 but I imagine it needs larger taxiways and terminal amenities. I know some US Carriers take forever to board a smaller airliner let alone a A380. One thing with any runway you need to worry about is runway surface loading. Runways are designed to support a certain amount of weight. Even though a runway might be wide enough and long enough to handle a certain type the surface might not be able to withstand the weight of the aircraft. Runways are special they are not any normal piece of concrete.

the main reason that the most airlines arnt interested in a380 is that the airports all around the world hav to be upgraded which can cost billions and it costs lots of money to handle and maintain. it looks like qantas cant handle their a380s

Aviation is a expensive thing. Sometimes artificially expensive. Take a light bulb for example. The same light bulb I might get at the corner store for 5 dollars might be sold from a aircraft parts vendor for 25 dollars. Parts have to be certified to be used on a US aircraft. Compliance with regulations and testing increase the prices. Making sure items pass a flammable test comes to mind.
