End to load-shedding? Power production to cross 33,000MW in 2018

Pretty feel good goals. But as of 2016. This is what has been decided with facts on their side.

Govt announces 6 hour power outage in cities, 8 in rural areas daily during Ramazan

FAISALABAD: “The government is trying hard to provide people uninterrupted power supply during sehr, iftar and taraveeh. However, there will be six hours of load shedding in urban spaces and eight hours of load shedding in rural areas daily during Ramazan,” Minister for Water and Power Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali said on Sunday. He said there was an energy crisis and they were trying hard to control it.
The minister was speaking to journalists at a public gathering at Ghausia Park in Allama Iqbal Colony. “The government led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has been executing power generation projects on war-footing… we are hopeful that the situation will improve next year.”

He said between 8,000 and 10,000 megawatt electricity would be injected into the grid by 2018. “We are striving hard to overcome load shedding completely by March, 2018,” Ali said.
Responding to a question, Ali said the prime minister was abroad for cardiac surgery and would return soon “to work for the welfare and uplift of the masses”.

The minister said that the PML-N had earlier made Pakistan an invincible power. “By building nuclear weapons we have become a force to reckon with.” He said the party would soon transform it into an economic power.
The people of Pakistan have rejected Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan’s politics of agitation and hypocrisy, he said. “Khan has been acting at the behest of his foreign masters… he has failed to initiate any projects of significance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where his political party has formed the government.” Ali said the PTI had also failed to provide safety and security to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

By 2018 the national usage will be more than 38K MW. The planning and mindset behind our power generation wont end loadshedding even in 2025. If by 2018 we can touch 50k MW then there is a clear chance to eradicate load-shedding.

we need to
- erect new transmission lines.
The new power plants spread over punjab and in sindh the upcoming wind based plants in jhimir, gudu upgradation and thar coal power plants mean that the short distance transmission lines can do wonders as well. long distance are and will be required but currently short distance (150 - 200 kms) can do the trick

- convert furnance oil based plants to LNG - work needs to start now.
e.g. Japan power and southern power near Lahore. Converted to RLNG these 2 can almost quench lahore thirst for electricity

- Close markets by 9 max 10pm.
there is enough that you can produce. we need to inculcate in our culture austerity, value for money, society and family based culture. Early market closure will go a long way towards that goal

Let's first focus on making sure the electricity supply us not interrupted if a little wind blows and a slight drizzle happens.

Last night light went from 1:45 am to 7:23am bcz a little bit of wind blew and a alight drizzle happened.

So before the tall claims of ending loadshedding let's first make sure a slight weather anomaly doesn't shut down a city.

New grid lines are also being installed / upgraded with each major project. Without expansion lines, how do you transport electricity from point A to B? Point A didn't exist before or wasn't adequate enough  :enjoy:

Too many negative people on this forum. Can't take anything positive and appreciate it. I wonder how your daily lives are, just filled with anger, negativity and drama!!
if power plants are placed at smart location lots can be done with current grid.
we are not transporting massive hydro energy from far away regions to demand regions, it would be mostly power produced with 30km of demand area. lot of production will happen near Karachi, multan and Lahore.

Pakistani policy makers need to focus on producing surplus energy for the coming decades.

We have had the worst f*cking experience of load shedding!!! Our motto should be "never again!"

We should plan for efficient, sustainable, and effective energy production in the long term.

Pakistan's population will reach near 300 million by 2050-60. Our industrial production will increase manifold too by then. We need to make a plan for that right now.
