Use could use many other countries bordering Afghanistan such as Tajikistan, Azebaijan, Uzbekistan etc.. and they do for small operations. They come through Pakistan because they also rely on the bravery and professionalism of the Pakistani soldiers which none of the other countries bordering Afghanistan offer.
Let me also give you a lesson in history. In the 1948 War Pakistan was outgunned and out numbered in a ratio of 1:13 against India and 100% of Kashmir was in India before the 1948 War started, well Pakistan captured 21% of it in 1948. In Indian history books it is taught India won the War of 1948, but then I have not seen a victorious army losing territory and declaring victory.
In the 1965 War the ratio was 1:9 and again Pakistan captured another 8% of Kashmir which is in Pakistan today as we discuss. The 1971 War was a proxy war by India over 2 decades by setting up 28 terrorist camps on the East Pakistan borders and training militants. My uncle served in East Pakistan and he use to tell me that Bengalis use to spit on them during patrols through streets or markets. Most of the Pakistan Army did not want to die for people that spit on them.
Also Pakistan Air Force is the only Air Force that did do actual dog fights with The USSR's Red Air Force on the Pakistan Afghanistan Borders during 1979-1988 Afghan War. All western countries always train, practice and play Cold War but none of them actually fought the USSR. Yes with the Grace of Allah we shot down 28 Soviet Aircraft and lost 1 F-16.
Serbs did a lot of genocide in Bosnia and raped thousands of muslim and croatian women, but after US bombaraded them and 8,000 Pakistan Army and 10,000 Iran Army soldiers were deployed in Bosnia then the Serbia did not have the balls to commit their attrocities any more.
If Pakistan felt one day that it has a threat to its existence then we will make sure that we wipe out the enemy, so they cannot regroup and fight another day.

, yes the Americans have been in Afghanistan since 2001 and still fail to control the entire country. More than half the country is run by Taliban and drug lords, heck even some neighbourhoods in Kandahar are controlled by Taliban. Pakistan's Army got serious about this menance before the Swat Operation and look at how much we have achieved, our performance against the Taliban has been much better than the American Side. As far as India is concerned, we are immune to any threat from the Indian Military because they are well aware that any Indian Aggression will be replied with ample force. 
, from who? Pakistan's problems worsened when the Americans invaded Afghanistan, before our Western Border was peacefull and secure.
