There is corruption in Army, Air force is probably most corrupt of them all. But having said that, its the politicians who have robbed the country to its core, on the other hand, the country saw progress under dictatorship.

There is corruption in Army, Air force is probably most corrupt of them all. But having said that, its the politicians who have robbed the country to its core, on the other hand, the country saw progress under dictatorship.

Very true AF is corrupt though not entirely and bad decision makers are still there deliberate or simply dumb people are heading. Nobody tests Mirages 2000 or Tornadoes just for the sake of looking into what it got unless you are working on same type of Aircraft project which was not the case and than settle for very inferior cheap low cost Aircraft like F-7P. If we had either of these Aircraft we would be best position to procure more of them post 2001 and increased squadrons. Tornadoes/Mirages and F-16s makes Pakistan in best position against IAF. But fewer people would understand and alot would bash some of us for repeating it and it has to be repeated and told it was not fate it was not penned down in heaven that it would happen it was BAD POOR DECISIONS by dumb greedy people. For example Mush had cut the orders of 77 F-16s after earth quake but people till this day did not get relieve so why did he cut those orders? or simply that money vanished into his farm a.ss house!! Instead of 77 how many did Pakistan get 32?

Well......you mentioned political establishment......what you took out is how many x-military guys are involved with these political parties in negotiating these deals. They then pay the 'concerned' parties in the active military
The blame goes to all. It's not one or two parties involved here, all major institutions are involved. Someone once said "we have a lot of open lobbying in the US, but there is a huge hidden lobby which exists in Pakistan, and it forces billions of dollars worth of business based on their preferences, and it happens all hidden". And these are few of the x military generals of Pakistan. Shuja Pasha is just one example, he's making many millions a year since retirement.

Very confusing post. On one hand, you admitted to the corruption in the military's ranks. On the other hand, you pushed the entire envelop back to the politicians. Nice. The country saw the "progress" in "dictatorship" because of the American Military goods and services your country was providing and the transportation and related businesses were thriving. The dictator didn't come up with "economic reforms" that the country's economy grew truly. It was a "as needed" growth to support the US / NATO forces in Afghanistan.

To set the records straight, all defense deals are usually worth billions. In a country like Pakistan, where the military has final say in majority of the matters, these defense deals come out of the GHQ almost ready to go. The generals and all in Pakistan, have already been accounted for, as far as "referral fees" aka, the kick backs are concerned. Then, of course the civilians add their percentage on top of it.
On other deals like energy production, dams, etc, etc, every political party has its own share of retired generals who are involved. They then provide the necessary percentage to "active" officers as needed. I would exclude Gen. Raheel Sharif and Kiyani from this pool however. These two are clean. Mushy, Baig and there was another one, were the most corrupt in recent times.

So here is what I read in the newspaper when the F16 deal was made---by Benazir---I quoting the newspaper report----Benazir mde the statement " before us people bought these aircraft on credit----we are pying cash upfront for our planes---we are not begging for a loan "----stupid Pakistanis fell for it---were strutting around we paid in cash----.

The fools never knew----you never deal in cash with a country that runs on credit cards. She dealt in cash was because of the commissions deducted upfront.

I forgot to mention---Abida Hussein then end up joining her party as well in the end.

This statement is in correct. Pakistan never ordered 77 F-16. The order was for 36 Block 52’s. This was to be paid for from PAF funds. Musharraf visited China and on return he reduced the order to 18 aircrafts and the funds thus released were supposed to be spent on purchasing Chinese J-20 which was considered a more advanced plane than F-16 Block 52. There is thread in this forum where this matter has been discussed.

People may have forgotten that Musharraf book “In the line of fire” published in 2006 was No.3 on the best seller list within the first week. More than 70,000 hard copies were sold within a couple of months and it is still among one of the bestselling history books. Understand that more copies of this book were sold in India than in Pakistan and he was paid $1-million and some percentage from the sales.

What I’m saying is that no one has ever accused of Musharraf stealing PAF funds to finance his farm house. You can arguably accuse him of breaking Pakistan’s constitution & usurping power, but certainly not pocketing PAF funds. Please be clear that I am not a diehard fan of Musharraf but governance during his era was far better than during Zardari and Nawaz Sharif regimes.

PAF funds were not for earthquake relief. I have heard rumours that many countries didnot fully pay what was pledged for the earthquake.I know many from Mirpur and all say that Mirpur is now almost as it was before the earthquake. Cant' say the same about other places as I have no info.

Musharraf got paid a lots of money for the appearances and speeches he made worldwide over the years. He getting paid anywhere from $30,000 to 50,000 dollars per speech---on a similar level as that of Pres Clinton.
