EMB-145I: India's prying plane's first flight likely on Dec 7

I ve heard that the airforce asked the AEWAC to have an 360 degree coverage... but from the pic it seem that it cam only equip radar somilar to that of erieye .....

.
That is not the final product yet. Lets see.
This might not be the final prod but the inflight refueling probe AFAIK can't be incorporated in this stage as it will need structural changes........ I might be wrong.....

@deepakclaw : it is 240 deg coverage..... 360deg will be under P3

.
We should have built our own aircrafts instead of using foreign aircrafts for the purpose.

Well not all C 130J have A2A refueling capability. P-8 might just be like that...

.
looks like they've learned their lesson letting brazilians to do all installation for them, otherwise that balance-beam radar will break apart and fall over the plane like last time...and..please, don't make your own plane. it's a very very bad idea.

Chinese Defence Today - Shaanxi AEW Aircraft Crashed During Test

Chinese state-run Xinhua News Agency reported on Sunday 4 June that a military plane carrying 40 people was lost in the eastern province of Anhui and no survivor was found. Chinese president Hu Jintao has expressed deep condolences over the loss of lives and ordered a full investigation into the cause of the accident.

That is not the final product yet. Lets see.

Of course it is, it even got all paintings and serials from IN now and as you can see above the cockpit, it's fitted with the provision to insert the boom refuelling system, which logically wouldn't be needed if it gets a refuelling probe similar to C130... and we will see the same for C17s as well.

As you can see a few C 130s have refueling probe and a few dont. So a few P-8I will have a few wont.

. . .
This is what the final product will look like

Similar but as seen in previous pics the DRDO AWACS will have other structural differences to this pic like Satcom on roof and side mounted radars.

Actually ALL IAF C-130-30Js have A2A probes just they can be removed and are on transit to India from US. And I am unsure about P-8Is and C-17s having A2A refuelling probes, it would make sense but there has been no mention of it in the deals as of yet.

EMBRAER PERFORMS FIRST FLIGHT OF THE EMB 145 AEW&C PLATFORM DEVELOPED FOR THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT
Aircraft delivery is scheduled for the first half of 2012

São José dos Campos, December 6, 2011 – Embraer performed the maiden flight, today, of the first of three EMB 145 Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft ordered by the Indian government. The flight was well performed and all planned tests were successfully achieved. It tooked place at Embraer’s headquarters, in São José do Campos.

“This flight concludes another important phase in this program and starts the flight test campaign,” said Eduardo Bonini Santos Pinto, Senior Vice President Operations & COO – Embraer Defense and Security. “We are moving toward delivery of the first aircraft during the first half 2012.”

Based on the proven Embraer ERJ 145 regional jet, the aircraft features an in-flight refueling system, SATCOM capability, a significant increase in electrical and cooling capacities, and a comprehensive set of aerodynamic and structural changes. These improvements will allow the installation of the advanced electronic systems currently being developed by India’s Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) with CABS (Centre for Airborne Systems) as the nodal agency.

Currently, four Embraer Legacy 600 jets are operated by the Indian Air Force (IAF) for the transportation of Indian VIPs and foreign dignitaries, and a fifth Embraer Legacy 600 is in service with the Border Security Force (BSF), under India’s Ministry of Home Affairs.
