Egypt has condemned Turkish and Iranian military interventions in northern Iraq “in the strongest terms,” describing them as a continuation of “repeated violations” against the country.

In a statement on Thursday, Egypt’s foreign ministry said the intervention was a violation of international charters and covenants which stipulate a respect for nations’ sovereignty and the principle of good neighbourliness.

It stressed its full rejection of “any violations that affect the sovereignty of any Arab state, taking into consideration the consequences of such acts in deepening instability in the region.”

The statement called on all parties to respect the sovereignty of Iraq, and keep it removed from any international or regional tensions that would hinder its development and stability.

Egypt’s denunciation came hours after Turkey said its warplanes had hit over 500 Kurdish militant targets in northern Iraq’s Haftanin area in an operation against the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

The Turkish strike is part of a number of raids in the past days against the PKK, which Ankara said came in response to increased militant attacks on its army bases.

Egypt should be quiet unless it is prepared to admit it openly support violence in iran ? terrorists will be smashed wherever they are wether in iraq or greenland

If Egypt can't project enough military power to secure its water rights from an undeveloped country like Ethiopia, what gives them the confidence to think they can project power several thousands of kilometers away? What can Egypt do about it anyway? Impose sanctions on Iran and Turkey?

It's not like they're gonna attack Turkey, aren't they? It means they are planning to involve in Libya (P.S. they alresdy did, dozens of Egyptian special forces were deployed in Libya years ago) but I have my doubt on how much they can involve in reality. Also they have a crappy economy, without the Gulf Sisi cannot stay in power so they can't impose meaningful santions either...

I believe this statement is a political statement that cannot be accompanied by any move on the part of Egypt. If they want to say that they released this statement based on Arab brotherhood, I wonder why they have been so silent about Palestine after the Camp David agreement.
