UORZ- Radar warning and direction finding system

The UORZ is an advanced digital radar warning receiver (ADRWR) that automatically detects, identifies and alerts the crew to each threat. It determines the emitter's direction and mode of operation such as search, track and missile guidance. As a part of a threat warning system, it is central hub for integrating other Electronic Warfare (EW) sensors and countermeasures.

The UORZ can be rapidly deployed and can operate as a portable unit, or a stationary fixed based operation, or mounted on a different platform/vehicle, such as ground surveillance vehicle, tanks, radar stations... Because of its law weight, it is very capable, compact system suited to low-fliers such as helicopters and transport aircraft where engagement ranges can be short, and rapid reaction is required.

The UORZ identifies emitters and systems by matching measured data to a pre-loaded, user-controlled library initiating warnings and countermeasures, if necessary. Recordings of the intercepts can be stored for post mission analysis and updating of central database.

The UORZ lightweight equipment provides proven situational awareness and self-protection capability. With a virtual 100% probability of intercept and rapid time to intercept, UORZ is as ideally suited to today's low altitude, short range engagements as it is to long range engagements. Using its system controller, UORZ has been shown to co-ordinate integrated sensors and countermeasures to provide full protection to the platform and crew. With an extensive emitter and tactics programming capability, as well as the ability to record the electromagnetic environment, UORZ is truly adaptive to today's battlefield providing vital protection and engagement intelligence.

The UORZ detects and identifies all pulsed, Continuous Wave (CW), Interrupted CW (ICW) and Pulse Doppler (PD) radars at long ranges and in complex Radio Frequency (RF) environments. An ultra broadband receiver in digital architecture gives a virtual 100% probability of intercept and accurate frequency determination.

The digital channelized receivers are coupled with powerful signal processor, providing memory and throughput more than an order-of-magnitude beyond those of competing warning receivers.

This enables the UORZ to easily process the increased RF density of the future as well as perform the sophisticated processing algorithms supporting advanced 21st century combat scenarios and capabilities.

High performance of UORZ is achieved by using powerful processors and advanced signal measuring and analysis techniques. Use of Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMIC) results in significant reduction in size, allowing all the receiving and processing functions to be contained within fewer units.

The UORZ system can be provided with its own control and display capability for installation into the platform. The system can also be integrates directly with different platform systems via its databus for controls and displays.
The UORZ consists of the following major units:

  • Four dual antennas
  • Four dual channel receivers
  • One central processor unit
  • One display unit
  • One control unit(integrated with display unit)

Very glad to see this system here has peaked their interest, finally! I've been wondering when they'll start getting into something much more current in this day and age and technology than just relying on the old RPG from the 50's era! While the latter will always have it's uses, they needed this precision anti-tank weapon to get into that arena and be competitive with having that ever so crucial capability. This is probably one of those ESSENTIAL weapons systems every tip top military has. Good job and keep up the good work ya Basha.

It is quite a simple system to manufacture, but it should be effective in the modern day and cheap.

Of course I like a system like the Spike-SR far more but this will perform well enough.

These all are systems that Egypt is not manufacturing yet.. They are hand picked for heir advanced or just very practical technologies..Serbia might just have opened its Ali Baba cave to Egypt..just as Belarus did.. But Serbian products are close to the Western ones and former Yugoslavia was the best weapon maker of all the soviet block.. and not only that ..they had the best cars too of that block.. the "YOGO".. It is also noteworthy to see it shared borders with Austria..

See those Power-packs fo tanks; Engines and transmissions.. and remember how Turkey suffered with that when it wanted one for its Altey tank.. that would be a heck of ToT for Egypt.. It will give it independence in any future indigenous endeavor in that regard..

Not to mention those multirole missile systems with antitank capabilities from 9 km to 30 km.. some with top attack homing capability...Etc

Also the full automation of the self propelled artillery pieces in more than 3 different calibers is quite important for a modern army..in fact I'm skipping some that I know Egypt is already making or has the tech for..but still..making systems under license and owning their tech to improve on them is different..So this signing with Serbia implying all the armed branches of the Egyptian Armed forces is a very good prelude of what to come..

The Experimental Aerodynamics Laboratory was established in 1952. Its basic activities are model design and fabrication, wind tunnel testing, and design and production of wind tunnel equipment and instrumentation.
Main task of the Experimental Aerodynamics Laboratory is experimental support of research and development during the design phase of aircraft and missile projects. It consists of five wind tunnels and a high precision model workshop.
The wind tunnels are equipped with modern instrumentation, enabling various tests and measurements of static and dynamic model characteristics.
Workshop facilities are equipped with CAD/CAM systems and CNC lathe and milling machines.

Wind Tunnels

Wind tunnels are used for testing models of aeronautical and non-aeronautical objects. Typical tests are:

• Forces and moments measurements
• Pressure distribution measurements
• Dynamic stability derivatives measurements
• Flow field testing
• Flow visualization
• Minimum drag measurements
• High angle of attack measurements
• Store loads measurements
• Ground effect testing.

The most important wind tunnels are:

• The T-35 large subsonic wind tunnel
The T-35 is a continuous, closed circuit type wind tunnel with 4.4 m × 3.2 m test sections, Mach number range of 0.1 to 0.5, and Reynolds number range of up to 12 millions/m. It is driven by a variable pitch fan, powered by four AC motors with a maximum power of 7.2 MW.
• The Т-38 trisonic wind tunnel
The T-38 is a blowdown, intermittent type wind tunnel with 1.5 m × 1.5 m rectangular test sections. It is driven by air stored in high-pressure tanks by a five-stage 4 MW compressor. The T-38 wind tunnel enables testing in three speed ranges – subsonic, transonic and supersonic. It has Mach number range of 0.2 to 4.0 and high Reynolds number range of up to 140 millions/m.

Remaining wind tunnel facilities within the Experimental Aerodynamics Laboratory are:

• The Т-32 small subsonic wind tunnel 1.2 × 1.8 m
• The Т-33 water cavitation tunnel 0.5 × 0.35 m
• The Т-36 small trisonic wind tunnel 0.25 × 0.25 m.

The model workshop

The CAD/CAM Siemens NX application is used for design and production of wind tunnel models, measuring equipment and instrumentation. The model workshop applies a broad spectrum of conventional and non-conventional technologies in model production, including advanced CNC machine treatment and inspection using the 3D measuring machine.

In this way Egypt will be closing the Chapter of the localization of armored vehicles with their armor, ammunition and systems of all kinds to a rate of 100% made in Egypt.. It is possible and not farfetched to believe that the local Egyptian MBT will be based on an improved version of the Serbian tank with full ToT.. including the Engine and transmission, production, marketing and development rights..The Serbian Tank M-84AS1/AS2 is the equivalent of T-90S.. but faster and more maneuverable..It weighs 42 tons..able to fire antitank guided missiles with lazer guidance through the barrel..It is ideal for the Rapid Intervention Forces and the Marine Corps.. in fact a Light tank for special operations and fast landing..Egypt needs 2,000 tanks to replace the aging T-62 and T-55 tanks..So regardless of the deal to manufacture 500 or even 1000 T-90MS .. Egypt will still needs its own tank..and 1000 of them..

*Kuwait operates 149 M-84AB MBT’s in M-84AB, M-84ABK and M-84ABN versions (older than the AS1 version), which serve alongside 218 M1-A2’s.

Egypt signed a military cooperation protocol with Serbia as the culmination of a long period of negotiations, performance tests and audition tests. Serbia is producing distinctive types of precision weapons that are open for transfer of technology to be locally manufactured in Egypt, the details of which among other systems are in the following video..
