Economic relations between Pakistan and UAE to pave way for economic unity among Muslim world

ISLAMABAD, Dec 28 (APP): The emerging economic relations between Pakistan and United Arab Emirates would not only pave way for further strengthening Pakistan's economy but would also lead towards economic cooperation amongst the Islamic world. In a statement issued here Wednesday, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Muhammad Ali Durrani said that President Pervez Musharraf and his UAE counterpart Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan have agreed to bolster their trade and investment relations.

"This economic cooperation would bring fruitful results and it would transform the dream of Muslim world in to reality," he added. M. Ali Durrani said that UAE is one of the largest trading partners of Pakistan in the oil-rich gulf region and the Joint Ministerial Commission would find ways to further expand bilateral trade and joint ventures. He said President General Pervez Musharraf wanted the existence of an economic bloc after promoting the economic cooperation among the Muslim countries which could contribute in improving international economy.

He said the sympathies expressed by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed on the tragedy of October 8 earthquake show the close relations between the two countries. "Both the leaders are endeavouring for a social revolution in Islamic world", he added. M. Ali Durrani said President General Pervez Musharraf gave a proposal at Makkah Conference that Muslim countries must contribute .05 of their GDP for the socio-economic betterment of the member sates and to compete the strong economies in the world.

He said the President has given a new vision to the Muslim world leading them towards socio-economic prosperity. During the present regime, Pakistan has developed strong relations with the Arab world and it can be hoped this confidence would be a good omen for the Islamic world in future. "Islamic world also needs such leadership which could foresee the situation and can help in developing the confidence among the Muslims," he added.
