What's new

ECC approves petrol price hike by Rs 9.35, petrol new price would be Rs 108 per litre

Everything in Pakistan bar a few items, is becoming costlier over time, but there is no socio-economic security.

No sign of relief in this supposedly Naya Pakistan.

Naya Pakistan is not a magic wand. Repairs will take time.

  • The measures of Cell Phone Tax
  • The measures of Fuel Tax

Had all been in place between 2010-2013 , the same policies have been reverted because the same man is brought back in consultative capacity

He was again elected to the Senate of Pakistan as a candidate in 2012. He had been member of the Senate between 2012 and 2016. In February 2013, he resigned as the Finance Minister of Pakistan.

In April 2019, he was appointed as an Advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for Finance after the cabinet reshuffle by Prime Minister Imran Khan

so they want to wipe us out . fair enough

No, it is incorrect to say that. The government has no other options but people do have three choices to make: shape up, ship out or do without.

Yeah but 4rs a litre is not that big a hike. For every 100 litres you have to pay 400 rs more. As for the prices, i assure you the prices are the same since the last 3 years. I also buy vegetables and fruits. The prices for many items is the same as last year.
in village there are different price rate cuz no government control on price but just let it go . it wont bring any change

Me too. That was quite painful. 6kish for a full tank.

It was, 4 trips per month between ISB and FSD and 2 tanks full each trip ..

Problem is we don't have data on fuel users. In tough times like these, their should be tier pricing system. Motorbikes users pay less, cars pay higher, above 1800cc pay a lot more. But without data it's a pointless recommendation but the jist is that those who can pay should pay more than others.

Bro i am quite in touch with my village. Visit twice a month . I try to buy my groceries from there. I see a drastic difference in prices in the village. Plus the produce is mostly fresh.

dirext taxation should apply . different rate of taxes for different classes. for example if a guy have a luxury car he should be heavily taxed . thats just my opinion

Why would the elite allow taxes to be imposed on them directly when they control the system to extract indirect taxes from everybody?

In 2000 we used to import only 10 million dollar worth of oil monthly
Today it is 140 million dollar worth of oil per month

Instead of spending 140 million dollars for schools , hospitals and services we are buying fuel and burning it in traffic jams

People should consider taking bus and walking or sharing ride

Yeah i consumed a tank a week while commuting to work.
The biggest problem is the lack of data in any sector. We didn’t have data on potential tax evaders, until now. Data for that was collected from multiple sources and now 4 million potential tax evaders have been identified. Let’s hope they see swift consequences of their tax evasion. Taxation is one of the many factors that can revive the economy.
