Due to High cost production,KS&EW lost the construction of 4 Maritime Patrol Vessels

But still two ship, one each type is being built in Pakistan that will give some experience and technical knowledge about both types of ships.

Plus 4 sub will soon construct in shipyard that will make it busy too.

like HIT which requires an input / upgrade of $500 mill to improve its quality of products and be competitive in the international market, KSEW also requires similar improvements in its infrastructure to manufacture quality products. the other issue is this that KSEW sits idle until it gets orders from the Pakistan military, its only major customer. that is the reason the cost is high not the ability and capacity. another factor is that Chinese shipyards can build the boats faster than KSEW.

.
As per the news, the steel cutting ceremony has been done two days back in KSEW for the same boats you are talking about.

When I first heard the news, I was surprised why four ships were being built abroad.

It is essential, especially for jobs, that as many ships possible should be built at home. At times, even if they are more expensive.

.
Well here the government of Pakistan is making a mistake.
Shipbuilding is a very long term action which starts reaping benefits only by middle term.
One cannot expect to be economically successful from the first ship. 4 Million is not a big price.

The experience and techniques it imparts takes the shipyard capability 1 notch up.

Very sensible reply Sir.

This is a Chinese Scam. They jack up the price of KOM so that the ships are not constructed in Pakistan. How is it possible that you remove labor from KOM and still it costs more? Also, kickbacks involved as it is quite obvious. The ships are way over priced. This vessel should not cost over 10 Million dollars each from any western shipyard. Chinese junk twice the cost of western hardware, just because they give sellers credit. Pakistan Paindabad Chowmin.
