Mr. Khan gave Pakistan the Bomb......... Other than he had the Blue Prints of URENCO in Holland... For us who know what happens in Nuclear Field ....... Mr. A.Q Khan was the one to be the Show King for all the world with CIA and others with fishing Nets ......... This kept the work potential of KRL and PAEC hidden........

First of all there is no such thing as an Islamic bomb. Nuclear weapons are the sole property of Pakistan and are not for sale or rent to be used by third country. The term Islamic bomb was invented by anti Pakistan lobbyist to scare the USA and west so that they put pressure on Pakistan to abandon it.

Secondly Pakistan desperately needed a metallurgist to enhance its nuclear program. We had none that is why Dr. A. Q. Khan is worshiped like a hero. Plus he injected new life and enthusiasm in the program. He is a hero and shall remain so no doubt about it.

However, the reality that it was shared with North Korea, Iran and Libya as per the international media and other reports.

Notwithstanding, it is but natural that AQ Khan should be a hero in Pakistan and should be treated so, even if others feel otherwise.

I would also give credit to Zulfikar Bhutto for the bomb. He may not be a hero to many, but it was his steadfast resolve to have the bomb ('Pakistan will eat grass' speech) that ensured that AQ Khan was extended all assistance and guidance to obtain the same!

I don't see why he should remain a hero after he's been proven to have stolen the plans and run a nuclear racket.

He's nothing but a high-level crook. Is he the type of person Pakistanis are supposed to look up to has heroes? If so, I'm not exactly sure what sort of message you are sending out to the people of Pakistan.

First of all i wanted the opinion about Dr. Khan why being a hero.. and also about the logic that Pakistan is the only country that has nuclear bomb and is a declared Nuclear State...... All major religons and i mean all religions in the world have this capability and Islam also has....Thats why it is called as Islamic Bomb from the Other Religions ruling the world......

"Islamic Bomb" doesn't exist. A.Q.Khan created Pakistan's bomb. He may have helped Iran, an islamic country, but he may also have helped North Korea which is not an Islamic country.

Islamic Bomb is the title because before Pakistan joined the Nuclear club Islamic Countries didnot had any Nukes........ Pakistan was the only one .....An Islamic State and will be the only one for a long time...

Stealing Nuclear Plan is the basis for all Nuclear Developement in all parts of the World but why when a person from Pakistan Steals it all the world is against him and Pakistan???????????

I find it odd that someone involved in the development of weapons intended to merely kill millions of civilians (There is great deal of theory geared towards the use tactical nuclear weapons, but in almost any scenario, tactical nukes would lead to the use of strategic wepons) would be considered a hero. The majority of U.S citizens viewed the Trinity project as an unfortunate necessity to speedily end world war 2, and the leaders who used it were later horrified about its implications for global politics and warfare in general. Every leading scientist(Fermi, Feynman, Einstein,and Oppenheimer in particular) involved in the theory and development of Atomic weapons later expressed regret about their role in the project. Many went to great lengths (destroying their reputation with the government in most cases) in order to lobby against the creation or use of further weapons. Most historians view them as geniuses to excited by war fervor and the scientific possibilities to consider the long term consequences of their actions. None of them (With the possible exception of Einstien, who was not directly involved in nuclear weapons) is viewed as a hero today. These were the most respect physicist in the world, and they were not absolutely sure until late in development if the weapon would ever be more than a curiosity.
In the western viewpoint DR. A.Q Khan is at best a "High level crook" and at worst a trader to his country who should have been "dealt with" before he had a chance to proliferate nuclear technology. Personally, I am interested to hear the other side of the story.

Why is when you steal plans from Germany in 1942 you think it is ok... and when a pakistani does it in 1970's you think it is wrong .......... Everyone in this world goes to any lenght to Strength his nation Just as your people did in their time.......... So does it gives you the right to do what your people did back then and doesn't give Dr. Khan the right to do what he did?...

Doesn't this attitude shows that its not the person they were worried about but the ISLAMIC country ..............

As for Pakistan being Islamic, that rarely comes up in conversations on the subject in the U.S. Of much greater concern to the "Talking Heads" is Pakistan's politically instability, and the fact that it shares a boarder with another nuclear armed country with which it has a history of significant conflict. Its the hundreds of millions of citizens who would die in the dense urban centers of both countries that gives the wider world pause. Recently some analysts have been blabbering about the possibility of "Islamofacists" (Whatever those are) gaining nuclear materials if the situation in Pakistan devolved into a civil war. The people in the U.S's military and intelligence community don't really believe this is possible. It comes from having an independent media geared towards making money. They say silly things to scare people into following the news.

Now for my question, why is Dr. Khan viewed as a hero despite his indiscretions and the seemingly limited utility of a nuclear weapon given Pakistan's position? Neither Pakistan or India could "Win" in a theoretical nuclear war, period. The U.S and Russia figured this out about 50 years ago. Winning in a nuclear war amounts to "only" 50% of your population dying and your major population centers being uninhabitable for about 30 years.

I accept your first part but i replied for your statement, "Khan a crook"..

Nuclear Bombs are only deterrents these days since it is correct that it concludes to a greater damage then you gain eventually.....

Mr. Khan is a hero in the eyes of Pakistani people because they thing he is the all they had who gave them the Nukes......

That was my question in the first place what people think how much is Khan's Role in Pakistani Nukes..........

He is a hero we are made to believe but he has far lesser part in Pakistani Nukes then anyone can Imagine........

Eh, a new idea is an extremely rare thing, and usually it turns out to be useless. Developing nations cannot afford to pay people accumulate "useless" knowledge, so they use the ideas they know work. It is not worth the effort to accuse a nation of stealing it's knowledge, but it is worth it to accuse individuals of sharing what should be a state secret with destabilizing and generally negative forces.
