A Korean equivalent of the JCPOA would likely require the disarmament of NK's nuclear forces, destruction of all equipment needed to enrich fissile material, and have the country subject to inspectors & visits. It doesn't take a Ph. D. in geopolitics to see why North Korea would not be so keen to sign such a deal.

Do you think it's a bit of a coincidence that whenever a place becomes "a bit too peaceful", the US government comes out with some ridiculous plan (moving the US embassy to Jerusalem), seemingly with no intent other than a dislike of too much peace?

Well it worked, the Israeli-Palestinian border is now a river of blood (again). For seemingly no reason at all other than some freaking ego trip.

Why couldn't the USA just not have conducted these military exercises, when it was blindingly obvious that Kim Jong Un was bending over backwards to make peace with South Korea? How much will they lose by postponing 1 military exercise?

And lets not forget that the US government is also dropping a "peace bomb" every few minutes on someone's head in some part of the world, according to their own statistics. Why is peace such a threat that they have to drop a bomb literally every few minutes?

I'm not even mentioning them ripping up the Iran nuclear deal, which by the way also happened within the past few days. It's like they are allergic to the idea of peace.

It was my understanding that Kim agreed to have these talks while still knowing that there still might be some exercises going on throughout the negotiations.

Well the scale of exercise is massive with 100 warplanes and including B-52 bombers..It does not seem to be defence purpose only. I think the exercise can be postponed or cancelled since these talks are important I was really surprised how all of the sudden Kim was all for peace and talks... But now we are back to square one.

Obviously, China, too, does not want the DPRK to be lured into another fake peace pretense by the US, as has been experienced many times before.

I do not think it is Trump. It is Dotard rogue regime. The deal was signed by the previous US administration. I am not sure, why in the hell, the Dotard Regime decided to make that foolish move to relocate the embassy -- other than a sneaky plan to make Russia great again by helping oil prices go up again.

Perhaps, from high oil prices, the US benefits, too. After all, the US is a major resource exporter.

In any case, peace is antithetical to the US regime.
