Doomsday' asteroid could slam into Earth in 2036: Scientists

These western scientists can't live without star wars concept..

first 2012 then 2013, then 2036....
I fckin don't beleive these

1 in 250,000 of a CHANCE

Math must not be your strong suit..

-Also, as if I recall correctly back in 2004, U.S scientists said it was a 3 percent chance that this exact asteroid would hit us in 2029. But then again we were proved wrong..

.
armageddon:lol:

We need Expert Drillers from oil fields!:woot:

. .
I just hope no one would suggest "Armageddon" style of intercepting the asteroids because it won't work, oh wait. Too late.

Doomsday will be 10th of Moharam. I have checked and April 13 is Sunday 16 safar 1458 A.H.

When is doomsday due? Signs say Dajjal (AntiChrist) is due within few years (could be 10 or under) and as Dajjal would arrive, Prophet Jesus PBUH will also arrive within 40 days of his rule. After killing Antichrist, Jesus PBUH is said to rule the earth for 7 years and some say 40 years. Even if it is 40 years, we can still expect earth to see doomsday within few years after Jesus. That makes it some 50-60 years time from now.

Now how far are we from arrival of Dajjal? That could be within a decade. Prophet Muhamamd PBUH had said that when you see bare-foot sheep grazing Arabs competing to build tallest buildings, know that it is the last hours before Dajjal would arrive.

What would be the last signs after death of Prophet Jesus PBUH? After Dajjal and Jesus PBUH, only few signs would be left. One is annihilate of humans and appearance of talking animal from the mountains of Makkah. When this happens.. earth would have seen all it could.

Mind that Rising of the Sun from the West is still due.. some say it will happen after demise of Jesus and other believe it will happen before that. But Wallah o Aalim! Allah knows the best.

We have 25 years to create a super duper laser cannon-- that can disintegrate this asteroid into gazillion small pieces-- our atmosphere will take care of the rest--
Or we should work on how to change the path of this asteroid-- probably by proximity detonating the most power full nuclear weapon ever built--
i think it will be wise to-- mask a camera on its surface when it passes by-- so we can know-- where its going--
well you don't need that supadupa laser just hit it with a H-Nuke and it will be history

You don't need to counter an asteroid with brute force. Nuking an asteroid will be more devastating as large fragments from an asteroid can still cause massive destruction. Just create a technology that would slowly "push" it away, changing its trajectory path.

Doomsday' asteroid could slam into Earth in 2036: Scientists

ONDON (PTI): The Earth may witness a doomsday catastrophe as early as 2036, as scientists are predicting that a massive asteroid travelling at a speed of 23,000 miles per hour could slam into the planet.

If the nearly 275-metre-wide Apophis passes through a narrow gravitational keyhole in April 2029, it will be on course for a massive collision seven years later, most likely on April 13, 2036, the scientists said.

The force of Earth's gravity is so great that if the asteroid goes through the hole its path could be "tweaked" – sending it straight towards us and there was a chance that it collides with Earth, said Donald Yeomans, head of NASA's Near Earth Object Program office.

"The situation is that in 2029, April 13, Apophis flies very close to the Earth, within five Earth radii, so that will be quite an event, but we have already ruled out the possibility of it hitting at that time," Daily Mail quoted him as saying to a science website 'Life's Little Mysteries'.

"On the other hand, if it goes through what we call a keyhole during that close Earth approach... then it will indeed be perturbed just right so that it will come back and smack Earth on April 13, 2036."

The NASA scientist, however, said such a collision is unlikely although Russian scientists are predicting the asteroid may strike earth in 2036.

Professor Leonid Sokolov of the St Petersburg State University has earlier said that 'Apophis' could approach Earth at a distance of 37,000-38,000 kilometres (per hour) on April 13, 2029.

"Its likely collision with Earth may occur on April 13, 2036. Our task is to consider various alternatives and develop scenarios and plans of action depending on the results of further observations of Apophis," Prof Sokolov was quoted as saying.

Russian scientists held a meeting 14 months ago to look at launching an operation to knock the asteroid off path.

However, US scientists have estimated the actual chance of it happening is one in 250,000. Although it is big enough to cause a lot of damage to the planet it would not bring about the Armageddon.

If it is discovered that Apophis is on course to crash into the earth, NASA would attempt to take evasive action to change its path. The easiest way of doing this would be to crash an unmanned spaceship into the asteroid, the scientist said.

In July 2005 Deep Impact crashed into comet Tempel 1 in an operation to study the interior of a comet. The mission revealed that a comet's nucleus is more dusty and less icy than had been believed.

Sooner or later something massive will hit the earth that is for sure if not this than something else may be

The trajectory of the astroid is certain to change after being nuked and won't forget it's only 200 meter wide and a h nuke is certain to make it into several small piece into several ten of meter wide rocks and those rocks when entering earth are sure to disintegrate even farther .

I noticed "we" has been mentioned in this thread quiet a few times already. Who's "we"?
