🛰️ NASA’s Lucy mission went to visit an asteroid and got more than it bargained for

three grey space rocks in the blackness of space. the largest is alone on the left; the smaller two are on the right, touching one another

This image shows the asteroid Dinkinesh and its satellite as seen by the Lucy Long-Range Reconnaissance Imager (L’LORRI) as NASA’s Lucy Spacecraft departed the system. From this perspective, the satellite is revealed to be a contact binary, the first time a contact binary has been seen orbiting another asteroid. A diagram showing the trajectory of the NASA Lucy spacecraft (red) during its flyby of the asteroid Dinkinesh and its satellite (gray). "A" marks the location of the spacecraft at 12:55 p.m. EDT (1655 UTC) Nov. 1, 2023, and an inset shows the L'LORRI image captured at that time. "B" marks the spacecraft's position a few minutes later at 1 p.m. EDT (1700 UTC), and the inset shows the corresponding L'LORRI view at that time.

You need to visit the local natural museums and see the sizes of meteors that have come down onto the earth from space. We have plenty in London's Natural history museum. Not sure what your point is, are you saying it's not feasible or it's not practical or it's not ethical? Firstly no more ethics, it seems everything goes these days. Secondly it is both feasible and pratical. Like any weapon it has its risks.

you will have better luck with pathogens

Let's look at some numbers. The most destructive non-nuclear bomb can be made for about $16 million. The cost of just placing a shopping cart size lander recently on moon was about $70 million. This has been the most economical lunar lander program. Most asteroids that may be harvested are between Mars and Jupiter. It takes years to reach them and bring them back. Typical meteor projects by NASA are 7 years long. Even if a rocket was developed to go to an asteroid and bring it to earth, you are looking at 100's of millions of dollars, if not billions. Another thing: at present, only U.S. has the ability to go and do anything with asteroids. And they have brought back a few grams of dirt.

Once the rockets are attached it becomes just another re-entry vehicle and as we have seen the trajectory calculatioons are pretty accurate and you can pinpoint impact site.
Bhaisaab if someone really want to destroy than the world had enough nukes. Especially with the nations who would be able to redirect asteroid towards specific place in earth.

This is of a bigger magnitude and you can calculate the devastation in Gigatonnes of TNT, also it can be put down as an unfortunate natural event. There enough sick people in the western world to carry out such an attack.

Don't try to be naive, you know full well it is feasable and it's potential for weapons use is being explored. It's the Kosha of weapons , environmentally friendly weapon of mass destruction.Thousands of meteorites hit the earth every year (approx 6k) of varying size. Look at sdizes in this link of possible large meteor hits:-

Although one point to note is if nuke is used place wil be inhabitable forever in our lifetime vs asteroid 🤔
