HAL is a joke and anybody who disagrees is just not thinking clearly. My 2 friends are in drdo and they tell the state of that organisation quite clearly.
When there is zero accountability and u are being paid on monthly basis irrespective of the results then this bullshit will continue. The fact is there is no work culture in our psu's and the earlier we privatise the better it will be.
On tejas let me remind u all HAL said it will get ioc-2 in november,,,,,now it says december??!!
What shameless guys are they??
I don't think that privatisation is the panacea that will allow India to readily build advanced weapons system.
China already had decades of experience where it literally built and designed many different types of fighters jets before it was able to successfully develop the J-10 fighter jet. Even then, it failed to develop an engine to go along with it and hence was reliant on Russia to supply the AL-31 engine.
India only constructed fighter planes from knock-down kits and therefore had little experience in either design or the manufacturing of critical structures and components for jet planes.
Simply the LCA was too ambitious a project for the Indians to have attempted in the 1980s for the industrial base that the Indians had in the field.
It is debatable just how much more successful a private company would have been, but even a very efficient private company would never have been able to build all the aircraft by now successfully.
India is in a much better position now since it will still have learnt a lot in the design and manufacture of a 4th generation jet but it should not think that it can try to start development of a 5th generation plane just yet.
