Does Turkish Navy need a LCAC(hovercraft)?

O Exocetler Hovercraft sikmicek dimi Sibob ?[/SIZE][/B]
Retard, you are comparing a few million dollars worth LCAC with the decades project of the Turkish Navy amphibious forces.

This is a military forum. Stop irritating people here with your worthless posts and take your pacifist fag mentality somewhere else.

Say the Professor ,Hovercrafts only made it for some Terrains where they are usefull and not over Sea to Start a Invasion.

If Hovercrafts so Important ,why and for what we have SHIPS ? Corvettes ? LHD´s and LCT´s ? For what they are good ? There a big Range between Turkey and Greece to take this some Hovercrafts.

LHDs are open sea ships, they are built to support larger amphibious fleets and they CAN'T operate without LCACs.
Nobody's suggesting we should replace solid-hull amphibious transports with hovercrafts. Hovercrafts are ineffective at high seas, Zubr is a flawed design. We need shorter ranged hover transports all NATO navies operate with their LHDs and LPDs.

You can't scare anybody with large fonts.
Your arrogance is irritating me. Before trying to school me with your egg-sized brain go read my posts.
peace

Are required for the new Turkish LHD,SSM has say 3 of them. But all other´s here wants a Zubr to invade Greece.

Like @mehmeTcc says, Even though we have a huge number of amphibious ships, We are nowhere near capable of invading Greece and its thousands of Aegean isles, Even with our upcoming LHD and LSTs. Let me tell you why, Mainly because of the fact Greece has more then twice the coastline then Turkey, Around 14.000km if i remember correctly.

Why not go full strength straight towards the capital Athene and its over, once you have Athenes you got the islands too, otherwise you end up spending more time and energy for these little unsignificant islands.

Hovercrafts are not some strategic assets but they are surely crucial for landing operations..As far as i know hovercrafts can operate over mines with impunity in deep (or shallow) water and on land, since they create virtually no pressure, acoustic or magnetic signatures. And also they have the ability to operate from unprepared beachs and rivers etc..So imho, yes, Turkey needs them as attachment to our LHD rather than independent unit such as Zubr class..Will be a fine and useful addition to our Navy

Zubr to invade Greece  I'd explain why this is so moronic but ain't got time for that, figure it out. Greeks have Zubr, there's nothing special about it. Just a cheaper solution to do what solid-hull amphibious landing ships do.

Turkish Armed Forces wants power projection in Mediterranean. That's what LHD's all about. But as Mehmetcc said, LHD can't afford to stay within the enemy's firing range. This is where LCAC comes in.

We need LCACs to keep LHD out of missiles' range. They must be short ranged, cheap and effective.
Read my phucking posts.

It's not as easy as you think it is, we are barely twice as strong as Greece. You need five times the power of the defending side to win such a siege. What Turkey wants is to overpower Greece and make them submit to our demands in the Aegean.

. . .
@Neptune @LegionnairE : I don't understand does the Turkish Navy currently posses no Hovercrafts ? :what:

No bro, we have totally about 56 amphibious landing crafts, but no LCAC's yet. But I remember that we signed the deal/project of it at 2009 or a date else I guess :). But they're thinking of adding 2 LCAC's to the upcoming LHD, as an option. ;)

Nope, We are discussing wether we need seperate Hovercraft like the Zubr-Class or LCAC-Class attached to LHD :)

Even the smaller ones like the Pakistan Army operates a few Griffon 2000TD for our Naval Special Forces contingent !

Turkish Naval Special Forces are propably going to use the Turkish Small Submarine that is under development insted of seperate hovercraft, Which are more vunerable i guess.

So as of now Turkish Naval SFs dont have mini subs?

Here are SSG(N) with their midget subs .. produced under liscense by Karachi shipyard:

SSG(N) personnel on a X-Craft (SX-756 Class) midget submarine during a training exercise. The X-Craft course that is taught to SSG(N) personnel has a 32 week duration out of which 12 weeks are spent on theory and 20 weeks on practical exercises.

These submarines can transport up to eight swimmers on raiding or reconnaissance missions, or perform other tasks in shallow waters such as mining. Armament consists of two torpedo tubes that can be loaded with SUT type torpedoes, up to eight limpet type mines can be carried in place of the torpedoes, or a pair of two-man underwater swimmer chariots.

Sensors only include a pair of Pilkingtom CK 39 periscopes.

These subs are believed to have an endurance of 20 days.

A State of the Art MIDGET submarine built for Pakistan Navy in collaboration with M/s COSMOS of Italy. The boat is capable of firing torpedoes and carrying mines. It is available both in Offensive as well as Defensive roles.
Other features include:
