Does Pakistan Need Secularism?

.
.
There is nothing in between. Either you are a Muslim or you are not. Either their is an Islamic state or there is not. . And why so hesitant in implementing Islamic Law???

Islamic law? which version of Islamic law? Every sect/state has its own version of Islamic law? Be it more violent like taliban's law- or ridiculously more strict like Saudi Arabia- or more dictatorial Iran's law-

.
Sir, all the examples you mentioned above are USING Islam to either gain popularity or to stay in power. By actions there are all secular. .

Keep believing that.

If they were secular, they would be able to gain much more support from where it matters, the west.

Look at Gen Ayub, he was a liberal secularist and he had so much backing from the west that he turned Pakistan around.

He even removed the 'Islamic' from Pakistan's name through constitution.

im saying you are talking to the wall by discussing with emo girl

well, being a Muslim it is my duty to say what is right. The fact that the other person believes me or not is another issue. . As Allah says that if he finds good in someone, he would surely guide them. Our duty is just to convey the Message. .

you are comparing the saudis with islam when in islam dictatorship is not allowed and the son is the heir, with iranis who are shias, they follow islamic socialism, the branch of communism, and talibans who are doing suicide blasts against fellow muslims

oh no Sir. I know that Musharaff drinks and whatever he did in his era is enough to prove that he is secular. And as far as Zardari is concerned; he would mention Islam and Allah in his speeches instead of Bhutto if he was Islamic. .

well sorry Sir. But unlike you, I don't learn Islam from Taliban or Saudis or some sect. The Quran is clear if you read it. . As far as Hadith is concerned; there are many Hadiths of which all 4 Schools of Thought approve, which will make easy for us to understand Quran . .

Musharraf secular, are you sure?

BBC News | SOUTH ASIA | Pakistan 'not meant to be secular'

PPP secular, are you sure?

PPP is not a secular party: Mehdi Hasan | BottomNews

No party in Pakistan could be labelled as a secular one.

Pakistan is an Islamic leaning state which favors the Deobandi brand of interpretation.

Sir Ji- going by the definition- no country in this world is secular anymore- here by secularism it was meant to point out to governments which dont carry Islam or any religion as their state agenda- Like JUI-

What has drinking got to do with secularism. We are discussing separation of masjid and state, individuals can be whatever they want. Gilani can have a beard if he likes, only the law they pass in parliament should be secular.
Secularism does not mean individual need to be non-religious.

OH MY GOD! You people are Senior Members of this forum and are somehow trying to prove that Mushi or PPP or some other party is Islamic. .

No one becomes Muslim if he says so or reflects that he is one. - - If I write "DIAMOND HOUSE" outside my house; that does not mean my house is made up of DIAMONDS. . Try to understand please. .

Mr. that is the difference between other religions and Islam. Islam is not just a mere religion. It is a combination of Religion, Politics, Economics, War, Law and Order, rules of Family Life etc. . To call some country an Islamic State every thing in Islam must be followed. .

Mera Bhai, we are talking about Pakistan and its rulers, they advocate the mix of religion and state, hence they are not secular.

The only secular gov in Pakistan would be one which advocates the removal of Islam from the business of the state.

They don't do that because they use these religious parties for their political benefits. Its not because they are inclined towards Islamic Law. .

So they are not inclined towards secular ideals either then.

And they do use religion for political leverage.

They are not secular then, are they?
