According to Elsevier 66% of Iranians in the Netherlands are atheists or agnostics. And the others are only 'Muslim' in name.

No, the opinion of the majority of the Iranians. And you know that as well.

Enough of your bullshit you are trying to let others think that Iranians outside of Iran are all non muslim and completely anti-islam. Who are you kidding? Islam is majority our religion and know one can change that. Many Iranians I know who live in the United States are all practicing Muslims.

I don't really think that 40.000 Persians in the Netherlands are representative for all 60 million Persians in Iran. I have also noticed that Iranians are mainly secular in Europe and America but the reason for this is, that their ancestors fled because of the Mullah regime in Iran. Of course they will be mostly secular because they fled from the the hardcore Islamic conservative regime in Iran. The conservative Iranian Muslims, who are satisfied with their regime will stay in Iran. Persians seem to be very divied when it comes to world views. Persians are very proud over their ancient high culture and Zoroastrianism but they're also proud that their mathematicians, poets, philosophers and astronomers have contributed very much for the Islamic Golden Age

Islam is not part of our country if you say that.thats mean you spit on Cyrus and Darius tombs
You are traitor who accepted the religion of the arab terrorist who raped your women put the sword on your neck threated to behaeded you if you don't convert to thiere religion.
you and your kind are in same page with wahabies. you are a wahabi jew Congratulations.

All iranians hate him and hate islam and becoming atheists

The imam had issued a fatwa during the revolution that the jews would be protected, the jews have all their rights in Iran and they are allowed one seat in Iranian Parliament.

You are a traitor to your country and would probably even spy for the Zionists against Iran and support Wahabbis just to get rid of the regime. Anyways we dont want jews here in Iran go to israel

what makes you think that you have the right to tell someone leave his own motherland? and what do you mean by "we"? I guess iranian people in 2009 made it very clear that they hate you basiji scums. so I guess it would be more clear that who is the traitor and should leave the country.

I like it how atheists and non Muslims here are trying to force their opinion in to others' throats, saying that all the Iranians are atheists, non believers, Christians and etc. It has nothing to do with supporting IR or not.Historically, Iran has been a religious society, even 1000 years before Islam and that hasn't changed much after 2500 years.

Yes, a huge faction of our society is secular, but a secular person is NOT necessarily an atheist, I don't think it's too hard to differentiate between them.
Like it or not, religion still plays a very important role in our society. Not all people are very devoted Muslims indeed, but the absolute majority of the society will tell you that God (Allah, Lord, YHWH, Ahura Mazada or whatever you call it) and religion play a significant role in their life. We do also have many atheists, but they are still the absolute minority. Only because you or your family are atheists, it doesn't mean that other 77 million Iranians are atheists too.

PS: Do not insult any religion, it's against forum rules and you might get infractions for repeated violations.

You can criticize people or ideas with respect, but degrading and insulting any religion will not be accepted.

When did anyone say that?

How exactly? Not so many people practice religion anymore.

When did anyone say that?
Here for example:
All iranians hate him and hate islam and becoming atheists

The mullah regime confirms that majority of iranian youth chose Christianity or atheism
Go to YouTube or any iranian forum or the iranians who live abroad all hate islam

Google:tsunami of atheism in iran

How exactly? Not so many people practice religion anymore.

Having lived in Iran my entire life and interacting with so many people, I'm afraid you are wrong.
As I said not all people are hardcore religious people or very devoted ones, but they will still name you a religion if you ask them about their ideology. Majority of people I mean.

You pretty much know that people are living a double life in Iran. What people say and do are two different things. Fact is that there are many reports pointing out to nihilism, indifference and modesty towards religion by Iranians. Yes, Iranians are 'spiritual' by nature, but if you compare it to the region, its quite different.

Yes, compared to neighboring countries, Iranians are less religious indeed, that's obvious. But we were talking about Iran itself, not comparing to other countries.

You have to compare it to other countries to put it in perspective. I've been to Morocco, Turkey and many other countries, and people over there are much more 'honest' and 'conservative' in their religion, while in Iran its quite different.

In US 25% of Iranians are Muslims and the rest are not so people will more likely meet a non Muslim Iranian and formulate opinion based on that, they will come to the conclusion that Iranians hate Islam because the 75% Iranian Americans hate Islam themselves for the fact that many left the country around 1979.

BTW what is the structure in your avatar? It is some fine piece of architecture.

Another thing I noticed is that Iranian Muslims here get along with Arabs ironically, some even run businesses together.

And I already admitted that Iranians are less religious compared to most of ME or N African countries.

@Surenas . But if Iranians are not Muslim for the majority, why do we see some pretty serious s.hit Muslim stuff in your country, like the dress code for your women and the public hangings and the stoning of women half buried into the earth and stuff? Not to mention you rabid hatred of Israel and Jews and your Hezbollah fighters in Palestine and Syria? Is this imposed upon your majority by a minority? If so, what does it say about you as a people? Scared, powerless, immune, indifferent? Or do you see Egypt and Syria and have decided to grit your teeth and endure rather than suffer a similar fate?

A very thoughtful question. :coffee:
