Do we really need democracy in Pakistan?

Can you please point out which country is having a dictatorship and is successful.
Pakistan....... under the leadership of Ayyub, Zia and Musharraf was strongest and progressive, despite international hurdels and sabotages.

We need true democracy where rule of law is followed and all are equal before law not this oligarchy
I have seen rule of law and equality in Saudi Arabia, democratic states can't come close.
In Pakistan parliamentarians, judges, police & lawyers are the biggest thugs and law breakers.... where as general public is concerned... they dosn't even know when they break law!

Ali ibn Abi Talib was the only one, democratically elected by the ummah
You suerly learned this history in your weekly evening classes of cursing, right?
If Pakistan govt. had at least banned participation of under 18 kids to those brain washing classes, Pakistan would be a super power today.

The Chinese have done it well, in the past they were considered uneducated, backwards and poor, but now they have become one of the most powerful nations on Earth.

We could take inspiration their style of government, but with less of a communist overtone, and more democratic practices.

Whatever system we need, it is definitely not something we could copy from other nations, and will have to be something that is well suited to our population, culture, and society.

In a true democracy the people elect representatives to express their views and use these views to help the people in their day to day lives. In a largely uneducated population, decisions are destined to be unreasonable because such societies cant evaluate the true impact of such misjudgment ; leading to the ultimate destruction of the state itself.

I have been researching alot on different types of democratic setups in the world. Each country has a slightly different system which is catered to their needs. Keep in mind that majority of the nations are not multi ethnic or multi-linguistic countries, so the people voting is not based on ethnicity or religion.

Now lets look at the current setup in Pakistan. It is using a derivative of the West-Minister form of government, where you elect a person from your constituency which goes into a house and then these constituent elected members select a person among them to become the PM of the country. Now the problem with this system is that since Pakistan is a multi-ethnic country which is further sub-divided in tribes or bradari, people usually vote for a person from their tribe/bradari/religious sect without considering if the person is competent or not.

Secondly, these elected constituent members become ministers of critical positions like Finance, Foreign Relations, Education/Health and they might not even have any technical education nor experience in that field. This is not meritocracy, this is blind leading the blind.

Pakistan needs democracy but a democracy where the best of the country run the country. So in my opinion the best form would be a Presidential Technocratic Democratic System. The way it would work is that the people will directly elect the President to lead and provide guidance/vision. The President in-turn will select the best person for each Ministry. The Ministers will need to have a verified degree and several years experience in their respective fields. Ministers in turn will have to select advisory staff members that would have to be educated and experienced in their relevant fields.

Now the election of the President should be done in 2 stages. In the first stage all the Presidential candidates will be running for the polls and only the top 2 candidates with the highest votes will re run in the second stage. Voting should be mandatory for all adults aged 18 and over.

This is just the basic summarized version of what i think would be the best democratic system for Pakistan.

Pakistan is a country that has faced a lot of different problems like terrorism, corruption, military coups etc. Growing up I was lead to believe that the only way for Pakistan to survive is to have democracy. I am talking about the time when Musharraf was in power 05-06. Every time I heard big political leaders of that time they kept saying jamhooriyat(democracy) is our life line and aamirz(dictators) are taking the country to destruction.

Keeping the situation of that time in mind when there were suicide blasts every second day, prices were hiking up suddenly, power failures were so common it was frustrating, I thought may be these leaders are right. May be democracy is the only way. Now the elections of 2008 were emotionally charged after benazir's assassination. So the democracy was finally brought back. Now when I look at it 8 years later, I think to myself was it really democracy that we needed? We did need a change that's for sure but I don't know if it really was democracy.

If we listen to today's politicians they say democracy in this country is not strong enough. Give it time. I think it was them who did not let democracy get strengthened. Because if it does get strengthened, they won't be able to get away with all the corruption. I see Indians making fun of our system and taking pride in their democracy, But is our democracy really worth taking pride in?

I don't think democracy with currently available political options is our solution. Can we go for a better system which suits us?

this is the basic rundown
West Europeans (USA to a lesser extent) prefer democracy. they have goodies for democratic states - textile quotas, access to technology, World Bank loans, military weapon sales. If Pakistan sets up a military dictatorship they will lose some of those goodies.

There is the comparison with India you have to endure at the international level

the alternative to democracy is dictatorships. the record of dictators is spotty. for every South Korea there is Philippines

but we have so many differences/divisions within Islam, how u planning on managing all that? for example we have Sunnis, we have Shias

Sunnis:

we have Sunni Brelvis, Sunni Deobandis, Sunni Ahl e Hadees, Sunni Salafis, Sunni Hanafis, Sunni Malikis, Sunni Hanbalis, Sunni Shafis, Sunni Qadris, Sunni Sabris, Sunni Soharwardis and much more.

Shias:

Ithna Asheri, Ithna Asheri Usooli, Ithna Asheri Akhbari, Ismaelis, Ismaeli Aghakhanis, Zaydis (Maybe) and more.

So many jurisprudential, ethical, theological differences, in sab ko manage kaisey karogey?
that is the job of learned selfless scholars. when faith enters into the heart of a muslim he becomes a momin and for a momin these sects dont mean anything. the heart of a momin softens up for truth and he will leave every thing which is not according to Quran and sunnah, all the sects were created by the selfish , dishonest scholars who used islam as a tool for their own political and economic gains. as majority of the muslims never bother to read Quran and hadiths themselves these religious leaders get a huge lot of idiots ready to die for their cause.
i admit that establishment of shariah is almost impossible today as most of the muslims are blind folded by ills like nationalism and sectarianism and none of us has time to study islam and that's why we are ignorant. according to some learned scholars of islam establishment of shariah and caliphate will only be possible by the advent of imam mehdi and not before that. he will be the one who will get muslims out of nationalism and sectarianism and that caliphate will be taken to a new height during the time of Prophet Isa PBUH. but before that we are destined to be doomed as we are just doing lip service to Allah and not doing any effort to establish his rule not even in the muslim world.

Can you give us an example of a country where sharia law is implemented and the country is progressing.

P.S Im not opposing it just want an example.
right now there is no country and that's why we are being killed all over the world like cockroaches, migrating to foreign lands where muslims are made to live in "the jungle" . muslim countries are at war with each other today. we left our islam centuries ago and today we are enjoying the fruit. it will keep on happening till we become muslims and stop being pakistanis, iranis, saudis, shias and sunnis.
secondly let me tell you something about dajjal. it was told to us 1400 years ago that those who follow dajjal will be prosperous and holding on to islam will be like holding on to hot coals. so it's our choice to follow system of dajjal and enjoy this world or we will stick to islam and walk on hot coals but only this group will be successful. this is mentioned in Surah Asr. " bayshak insan khassaray main hay( that means kings, millionaires, presidents, etc whom we take as successful) magar wo log nahi jo iman laye , naik amal kiay or apas main aik dosray ko haq bat ki or sabar ki talqeen kertay rahay". there is a huge difference between our standards or success and Allah's standard of success. at another place Allah says in Quran "bayshak sabar kerna bari himat walon ka kam hay" .
never expect to live like a pharoah and to have an akhirah of Musa . this is against the principles of the creator and He says that His principles never change .
