Well this is a press briefing and a conference of Myanmar's Investment Authority on what they'd LIKE FOR SOMETHING HAPPEN (HOPING AGAINST REALITY)
MEANING FABRICATING STORIES of 1000 Million Korean Investment and ON WHY KOREAN BUSINESSES SHOULD STAY IN MYANMAR (WHEN THEY REALLY ARE NOT GOING TO).
While KOREAN BUSINESS COMMUNITY LEADER (see picture) ALREADY IN BANGLADESH TELLING THE PRESS THAT THINGS ARE REALLY FALLING APART IN MYANMAR AND THEY'D LIKE TO MOVE TO BANGLADESH.
BS fabricated stories like this about Myanmar being an attractive FDI destination plays well in Yangon and Naypyidaw, not elsewhere.
Don't blame us - this is something Myanmar should take up with the Korean businesses.
By the way - infrastructure on Bangladesh side (electric power, water, other utilities, trained personnel, port facilities) are far more effective than Myanmar, we have been doing this for far longer - thirty some odd years. There are Korean businesses already here for the last three decades - they have eyes and ears and can judge for themselves which one is a better manufacturing destination and to park their money for a better return.
If Myanmar govt. can kowtow and downgrade themselves even further to attract FDI into a horrible infra situation - by all means do it.
But Myanmar spends almost all its money on their military junta and large percentages go to their pockets on defence purchases every chance they get. What are you going to build infra with?
