Discrimination against Tibetans in Tibet?

Distort fact and history again! Without a written script what constitutes a proper language? All spoken variation of Chinese are dialect derived from Old Chinese. Mandarin is also a dialect. Chinese language is tonal, any change in tone, makes the dialect harder to understand. Unlike India, China is already united as an ancient country, it has a common majority ethnicity, culture and language.
India has hundreds of ethnicities and languages, they don't even belong to the same language family, Indo-Aryan vs Proto-Dravidian. Do not lie, English is the lingua franca of Indian government and corporates due to British colonial heritage. English is also the preferred language among the upper class, many whom learned English as first language.

ok you win, now get some candies.

The pictures are by an American Diplomatic Staff and so are the translations.

I am curious how come it is allowed, to seek only a specific community for employment?

Is it not against the law, to do so?

The 2nd picture actually translates Company looking for number of staff, male, under 30, ...., Han only. Yes, its very common to see sex, age, and other very specific requirement on hiring ads in China that are supposedly against the law. But Chinese people are practical, even if those requirement are not written, the employee will only hire what he is looking for anyway. So enforcement are basically non-existent.

. .
So in other words, only Han are preferred. This is discriminatory for non-Han ethnics in China.

Minorities get
1) Less scrutiny and milder sentencing for crimes
2) Exclusion from 1 child policy
3) Subsidies
4) Massive infrastructure investment
5) Preferential treatment in education
6) Quotas in local government and NPC

Make no mistake, minorities are preferred in all spheres of life in China. I'm guessing the hotel and restaurant in question have already met their local labor quotas and are just looking for Han Chinese to round out the staff.

.
I'm sure there are Tibetans who can speak Mandarin.

Majority of Tibetans who can speak mandarin fluently would already have found much better opportunities within the society, there are mandatory government position reserved for people who are minorities and have gotten a qualification or experience.

hardly against the law, for professional jobs they also want a picture on your resume to make sure you don't "ruin" their companies' image.

First of all. We all do not know the full story. Maybe they already hired a lot of Tibetans and now needs some Han people.

This is a photo I took in a shopping mall in Malaysia. No Indians mention.

At first glance this is discriminating towards Indians. But inside the shop there was already an Indian lady working inside.

Indians are good for worrying too much for other Chinese since it requires less work. Worrying about themselves might require that they actually do something. The famous Indian efficiency problematic right there.

On topic: Business as usual.

I have refuted literally all your accusations @ all my above comments adequately. :cheesy:

If you have picked out one or two cases as examples (without reference to the above) for discriminations then you people are errorneous in generalising the case in Tibet

Our folks there are given the best opportunities to grow and prosper in Tibet by our government.

State Council Approves US$21 Bln Investment in Tibet -- China Development Gateway -- Sharing Information, Knowledge and Tools

People's Daily Online -- China pours huge investment in protecting Tibetan culture

Can Indian do the same in Dharamshala?:dirol::fie:

None of your point is related to what I have said. :rolleyes1:

I blame the government's over protection and preferential treatment of minorities. China is still not a country that takes rule of law seriously. Any time there is dispute involving minorities the government always sides with them. What a shame. Of course as self protection, I wouldn't even want to deal with minorities in China. I don't blame private companies.

Again lack of true rule of law and no equal justice for all force Han majorities to distance them from minorities. I for one will not bother to even talk to those two minorities, Tibetans and uhghurs, to avoid any personal troubles. In the u.s., one of my best friend is a Tibetan. We were even involved in a relationship. Hehe

Since your aware of this issue and government lip service towards minorities which I agree doesn't help. Are mainland Chinese allowed to buy property in Tibet autonomous region? Because if so, this is the only protection they needed, not a quota system which governments love so much.
