Difference in outlook between Muslim societies and others

Imam. Hussain (RA) was the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). He was the son of the Prophets cousin Ali ibn Talib (RA) and Fatima bint Zahra (RA) the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

He was an Arab from the tribe of Quresh. He was not a Persian.

He is revered by all Muslims. The special connection that Iranian people are perceived to have is linked to thier Shia interpretation of Islam. Shia members will be able to correct me if I am wrong but I understand that Shia belief is that after the passing of the Prophet Muhammad pbuh the Caliphate of Islam should rightfully been for his cousin Ali (RA). Part of this understanding comes from their interpretation of a hadith (saying of the Prophet Muhammad pbuh) which attributes value to his family. The Matham practice is Shia tradition I don't know details of.

Thanks.

That's all I really wanted to know.

pective held by people who look at things through a "Muslim prism" rather than other world views. This is relevant to Pakistani social affairs as it also impacts our society.
Mods - this is and isn't a religious topic at the same time. I am not preaching religion to anyone, but trying to explain a difference in perspective held by people who look at things through a "Muslim prism" rather than other world views. This is relevant to Pakistani social affairs as it also impacts our society.

@padamchen asked @SALMAN F in another topic, why as an Iranian Imam Hussain (RA) matters to him. I don't seek speak on behalf of @SALMAN F but as a Muslim would like an opportunity to explain why Imam Hussain (RA) matters to all Muslims.

@padamchen you mentioned a difference in nationality, a difference in ancestory etc and wanted to know why @SALMAN F could feel linked to Imam Hussain (RA). To understand this you must first understand;

  • Muslims believe in 1 almighty God (Allah).
  • For a Muslim all loyalty is first to Allah.
  • This world we live in is a temporary abode, one which is a test for us, an opportunity to please Allah, so that we gain his blessings and mercy and ultimately are rewarded with a permanent abode in Heaven (Jannah).
  • Allah loves his creation more than we can understand. Examples are sited that Allah's love for his creation is more than the love of 50 mothers, it is said if you walk towards Allah (figuratively of course), Allah will run towards you.
  • The sole purpose of the existence of a Muslim is to attain the pleasure of Allah.
This loyalty to Allah is in part demonstrated by us on this earth as loyalty to the teachings of Islam (the Quran and Sunnah), loyalty to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and the family of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

During the time of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) fathers and sons fought against each other, where 1 was on the side of the Prophet and the other was on the side of injustice. This is not to say that Islam doesn't value family or ancestry. One of the companions of the Prophet was locked up by his family in an effort to prevent him reaching the classes the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) would hold. This became public knowledge in the community. One day he escaped and arrived at the class. The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) asked him how he got there and he told him he escaped. The Prophet sent him back home as escaping would dishonour his father. In other examples companions were prevented from going to perform Jihad as their elderly parents were reliant upon them.

For Muslims loyalty to Allah, his messenger, his message and the family of the messenger, should be above any loyalty you can have in this world. I have often heard other Indian members on this forum taunt that us Pakistanis will have had non Muslim ancestors converted to Islam. It is suggested as a sign of weakness, yet we interpret it as a blessing of Allah and a sign of his mercy upon them and us, that he bought us onto his path.

In essence, that is why Hussain (RA) matters to all of us.

How can you speak on behalf of ALL MUSLIMS?

please provide any evidence which qualifies you to do that ?
.
you stated several beliefs in your message but failed to establish that for every statement all muslims believe that.

Firstly I never claimed to speak for everyone. People are entitled to thier own opinions.

Secondly, everything I said about Islamic belief is 100% correct. I am not obliged to provide you with credentials. It is the bare basics. If you disagree present me with evidence and I'll amend my content appropriately.

Asalamu Alaikum

Stupid ethno-centrists who can't see anything beyond the lens of ethnicity/race are incredibly naive and don't know how the world works.

People don't align themselves with each other because they were born on the same piece of dirt or because they come from the same subset of Homo sapiens, people like each other because of common ideologies. It just so happens that people from the same country/ethnicity tend to have similar ideologies, but that's not always the case and when it's not, there will be conflict. For example, Salman Al Farsi (May Allah Be Pleased With Him) was a staunch supporter of Rasulullah (Peace Be Upon Him), even though the latter was an enemy of the Persian (Sassanid) Empire.

Islam also came as a religion for all of mankind, not just the Arabs. Plenty of Islam heroes are Ajaamis (non Arabs). Not to mention we are all Homo sapiens, and as per Islam we are all descended from Adam (Peace Be Upon Him). Even as per Atheists, we all have a common ancestry from millions of years ago when the first life came to earth.

The oldest

Sumer, Ancient Egypt, and the Indus were much older and lasted for far longer periods of time.

I stand firm by that bit. If imam Hussain (RA) does not matter to a Muslim, they need to question why.

I am a Muslim, I have a firm. Understanding of the essentials of my faith. Islam requires us all to have that. We don't have a Pope to speak for us, each of us can speak for us on the essentials. Love and respect for the companions and the family of the Prophet Muhammad pbuh is a part of that.

@baapu are you a Muslim? Do you disagree with any of what I've said?

Here is a video explaining why Muslims love the ahle Bayt (family of the Prophet).

Shiekh Muhammad Aslam is a British scholar who is a sunni Muslim. Skip the first minute if you don't understand Arabic, the rest is in English.

I recommend anyone who wants to understand the deen to watch videos of Shaykh Aslam and even follow him on Facebook.

Therein lies the reason for my objection. Not with the content, If you say " I speak for all Muslims" you automatically imply that anyone disagreeing with you is not a Muslim. Do you not?
Where as you yourself actually do not have any authority to represent "All Muslims".

You are actually stating your own point of view, which is fine. but saying that you speak for all Muslims.
