What's new

Did you know Pakistan used to train Chinese engineers?

And I just checked. Sure enough the guy/guys behind bECO were westoxified coconuts.

Yep, the coconuts gave them a massive country to prosper and grow but the pure breed hate anything to do with the evil West, my brain sometimes hurt when trying to figure out Pakistani extremists minds its like they want to do anything opposite to what the world is doing, if the world makes progress in health sector and we get people calling polio a conspiracy to control Muslim birth rate, the world wants to travel in space but Pakistanis want to travel back a few centuries.

He's one of those reluctant immigrants
His never heard of PIA return flights. His dad or grandad, poor, iliterate could buy a ticket to UK but this guy is too 'desi' to take a return flight to Pakistan. He celebrates the virtues of desidom by living in sea of westoxification. Hypocrite.

See how he would like to go back home getting some donkeys ready for export
Lol. Donkey export ...

[whilst your ancestors flung their open posteriors to the British]

You can't just paint over 200 million people's ancestors with the same brush. Do you not remember the Battle of Jhelum? Or Ahmed Khan Karral? I even know someone who has an ancestor that fought in the sepoy mutiny.

Most of my family are Gujjars, and it's not like we exactly got along with the British Empire:

"Under the leadership of Walidad Khan of Malagarh, the British garrison was driven out the district. Walidad Khan held Bulandshahr from July to September"

As for your main point, did the British Empire bring good things to the region? Yes. Did they also bring bad things? Yes. Stop over-glorifying them, if the British Empire did not invade the region we would have been far more wealthy than we currently are.

we must not forget that Bangladesh happened largely because of him.

Bangladesh happened for two reasons:

1. Pakistanis assumed that Bangladeshis were as into a pan-Islamic identity as we are.
2. When the uprising started, we replaced Tika Khan with someone more lenient.

We've learnt from number 2 by hammering down on separatists with no remorse, and number 1 is irrelevant now since we don't rule over anyone anymore. But it will become relevant if such a situation occurs again.

This is the second time you've attacked me personally today - i've not responded before and i'm not going to respond again. I still don't know why you chose to de-rail my thread and personally attack me for views you assume I have, but I haven't expressed.

Could you spare a minute or two and just re-read what it is you think i've said?

Its frustation. And frustrations I share too watching a country regress into this mess where donkey exports is seen as a means to an end. Everyone is sick of the incompetence and mistake after mistake.

Even Imran Khan talks about Pakistanis of the 60s and earlier and how they were different and they were. I am not talking about a village person, I am talking about people in positions of power and authority.

Now we have to watch Pakistanis riot in the streets demanding the death of a woman over hearsay and exporting donkeys. The only common factor is the obnoxiously overly religious folk in Pakistan who will bad mouth anything which challenges their authority and paid goons for corrupt politicans to swindle the masses.

I don't disagree with what your saying, but I don't understand why both of you chose to express your frustration by personally attacking me, for having an opinion i haven't expressed.

there is a reason behind that. do you know what boko haram means?

That famous Nigerian and Pakistani saying?

Man I wished our history had taken a different turn from there. Anyhow, just wishful thinking on my part.

On the thread:
We may have done great things in the past, what area do you guys suggest we work into for some short term reprise from the situation we are in?

Short term - i think we need to setup vocational colleges. We need to train people on how to use tools properly, building site safety, how to build walls, how to weld, plumbing, even understanding of how factory work is done and how assembly lines work. We need people to have basic IT literacy - so they're fit to work in an industrial environment. We need to have the labour force to deliver CPEC.

Beyond that we need to encourage innovation and manufacturing in Pakistan again. There are all these guys with engineering degrees, but no jobs where they're told to design new things, or design old things even.

Bhutto: The best thing that happened to India.

No, not really. He and his daughter hurt Pakistan grievously, but they did nothing for India. Pakistan getting hurt doesn't help India; schadenfreude is not for countries like ours. You have to cope with the consequences of such bad leadership; Indians, sadly, can do little to help, because we have our own problems, and we need to work on those.

why can you people (the sane ones) in both nations unite on this issue and eradicate this filth from both sides?

You think we aren't trying?

Wrong messenger.
