Dhaka concerned as India plans to build 2 more dams

I think this is a good idea....Once the dam is built, BD engineers or civil society members can be a member of the coordination comitee to oversee about the issue of water diversion. At least that will help to reduce the trust deficit between both the nations...

That is next level of indian ploy. BD engineer stationed on site DOES NOT mean anything. And having Bangladeshi engineer does not address lie and damage india caused with Farraka, Gajoldoba and other dams. There should be no dam, that is only way. Bangladesh has to do anything necessary for survival of its people. And when survival is at stake Bangladeshis had taken great responsibility and burden through out history.

.
You think that BD can teach India a lesson with force
Well thats good too. Because after invading BD we don't need to ask for any permissions. We can just build the dam and let the millions of poor and hungry die.

I would say the same thing that the Chinese diplomat said to Singaporean diplomat in a press conference: "India is big country and BD is tiny piece of land, and this is the fact so you need to stfu and listen to us"
pisses me off when indians says this, BD is a soverign country, they dont have to 'listen' to you.

That goes to show Bangladesh still have to get its independence from indian clutch by removing awami league type stooges and other indian domesticated class. On the topic though, discussing and sending letters is waste of time, Bangladesh has to look for permanent solution to thwart systematic indian destruction against Bangladesh.

. .
Not the same topic here armstrong jee

Armstrong 'Jee' - I hate that so much; my cousin attaches a 'Jee' to everyone she addresses ! :hitwall:

Chaloo maaaf kiyaa, Khan Bhai kooo ! :kiss3:

So its a different topic...yaaanii aaap 'principled' stance leiteiii hain as opposed to being an 'emotional' meat-head like me ! :D

All the best with your ideas.

Bangladesh should ask for a water treaty with India. Jumping up and down if India is building Dams will not help. India will build dams. You can't stop us. There is a billion + population here thats needs water and electricity and crops that feed this billion + population need water too.

Secondly don't expect 100% water to come to Bangladesh. Have reasonable expectations. And start investing in technologies for judicious use of Water. This is not 1900 when the population of subcontinent was less than 200 milion. Its 2012 when the population is over 1.5 billion and will be 2 billion in a few years. So there will 10 times more pressure on water resources. Try and understand that Bangladeshis don't have exclusive rights (100%) on this water.

Jumping up and down, crying, blaming & threatening India will not take you anywhere. And if Bangladesh doesn't negotiate now then in in 5-10 years you will see multiple "Farraka's" all over NE India and Bangladesh won't have anything in hand.

Spot on! If we fail to achieve regional cooperation on such matters then it'll lead to the scenario that you have outlined. All the countries involved can then keep pointing fingers and posturing but it will not change the situation on the ground. India needs more dams and hydroelectricity projects, if we cannot agree on a mutual framework to regulate such projects so as to benefit all the parties involved then we'll see numerous projects go through that will only cause unrest in the downstream nation. India currently has hundreds of planned and/or implemented projects of a similar nature, out of which only one stands under dispute which is the Kishanganga hydroelectric project (where we've been told to halt construction of any permanent structures since the final verdict is yet to be received, although it seems that our side is confident that such a verdict will be largely in our favor as in the case of another previous project where objections were raised by Pakistan and the International verdict was that subject to one minor modification India could go ahead with the projects construction and operation) the rest of the projects are in an advanced state of planning and implementation, It would be a folly on anyone's part to think that they can stop us from realizing the huge sums we have already invested in such projects. Whatever objections there maybe, let us solve them now because it will become redundant once the projects are initiated.

Better regional cooperation and a framework on water sharing is the need of the hour NOT bombastic threats and posturing (from either side).

There's not much the indian regime can do, it's cloak of friendship is the greatest hoax. Everybody in BD except the BAL thugs, knows this by now. Another 1971 is coming.

What then is the solution in your opinion? If you think that any amount of pressure from anyone will stop these projects, projects which are essential requirements for our populace, then you're mistaken. So what exactly should either of the countries do to fix this issue? Even if the Central Govt. in Delhi were to consider intervening in a manner that you might consider to be beneficial for your nation, the concerned state governments would shoot any such intervention down. If you have no trust in any Indian framework then what do you suggest? Do you expect India to give up on projects that will increase its prosperity and the prosperity of its people based on someone else's objections?

This is why India (so-called) helped BD in 71. No bargaining power now, and we are succumbed!

Now the two options are available to BD people, surrender or suppress Indian hegemony!

We have a better option, another liberation war. BD needs a clean start.
