Devyani Khobragade gets full diplomatic immunity after transfer

Such outrages are common on both sides when it comes to China and India or even Pakistan - there's no respect or courtesy both ways, so we don't expect anything, that's not the case when it comes to other countries.

US approval is required for inter consulate transfers?

Outrage to the point of downgrading ties with China? When did that happen? Nobody was asking for Chinese heads on a platter when an Indian diplomat got assaulted(in a court no less) till he lost consciousness:

Indian diplomat attacked in court by Chinese traders

In Short, this is nothing but dramabaazi to people who have the time to note said dramabaazi. You know very well how the Chinese would have reacted to a similar "diplomatic offensive."

To answer your other question:

However, the complication is that she would have to apply for a fresh diplomatic card through the UN Secretariat, which would ultimately go for clearance to the US State Department. Here is where the Indians are hoping that Washington will show some positive intent by issuing the card and, in doing so, extend full immunity to her.

To ensure diplomatic immunity, India shifts Khobragade to Permanent Mission in New York - Indian Express

No such approval is required .

United Nations is not some subordinate agency to United states .....

She is in permanent mission to UN....

US government or US court can't touch her now ....

It 's the best move by Indian government ....

Not really. Refer the quote above.

its time that india also does the same kind of treatment with unrueli and rash US diplomats if they are found in any sought of criminal or anty india activities in india and treat them the way we treat owr hardened criminals and send them to tihar jail for slightest of offences no bail until prooven innocent

.
Irrelevant. What was India doing for long doesn't mean diplomatic staff can be suddenly jailed.

This guy has absolutely gone bersek ....he is now talking that Indian court and indian government has conspired ....against whom ....? and why ???

Can't believe people can stoop so low ....to get their 'American' labels 'polished' that they won't mind tarnishing their own motherland !!!

.
Now the news is popping out that Sangeeta Richards is a Jew and her family members were taken by some unknown persons to USA. They got visas two days ago and also tickets for USA on the same day. I smell large scale conspiracy against India in particular.

.
Transfering her is an admission that she did NOT have immunity. If she did, why transfer her?
You mean to say Raymond Davis was a saint? OR you mean to say rules are different for great USA and different for poor countries like India.

By the way, whatever you think, bottomline is India is not on payroll of USA. Period.

they are trying to be more American than Americans themselves

This is not inter consulate transfer ....
she has been transferred to permanent mission to UN ...

US has no say about who we post to UN mission !!!

It is a diplomatic master-stroke by Indian polity ....

Neither US court nor US government can touch her now ....

. . .
So, a person who has consular immunity, like she had, can be:

Strip searched.
Handcuffed in full public view.
Cavity searched.
Lodged in jail without a trial.
Is put in a cell with drug addicts, murderers and rapists.

Great! Now I shudder to think what an ordinary soul who is not an American, could be put through in the US of A. And they talk of human rights violations in other countries! Jeeeez!

Go through National Defence Authorization act of U.S .... you will find it interesting

Her family members were taken by some unknown persons to USA?so how does it help USA?

@Spring Onion, here's a new card that you were very keen in knowing about.

Now, dude; you are confused. There is just no connection between that case and this one at all. That was an issue of a Merchant Ship registered in some obscure African Country with its crew carrying undeclared and impermissible Lethal Weapons and illegally entering Indian Territorial waters.
So in effect it has the legal status of a "Pirate Rover" and its crew that of Illegal Mercenaries manning a Pirate Ship.

The fact that ship was owned and operated by a US Incorporated Entity is incidental to that particular case and can in no way be connected to this Diplomatic Row.

I don't get this. I see an outrage for the way she was treated though it is as per the procedures verified and published by Hindu. She has clearly bent the law(especially ridiculous if she is perceived as her representing the country) and clearly not entitled to immunity(else this thread wouldn't have existed) but she and her father are hiding behind representing India crap defense and everyone is going ballistic the way she was treated. The system here in US is tough but fair as seen and realized by even common person like me. Why does she needs to be treated differently and that system compromised? Isn't it what many in India oppose wrt politicians' and elites' treatment?
She is transferred to UN so that US can't contest again on diplomatic immunity. Its like creating layer of protocols to protect the subject in discussion.

And she is not a normal Indian citizen working in US, and the way she is treated was out of bounds. What's the point of strip search on visa fraud charge, which itself is under question ?

Also there is professional courtesy extended to these people.

I don't understand why NRIs are acting like its a normal routine. We all should stand beside her. Its about nation first. They even frisked our former President.

Guilty or not, US should apologize and return her, just like they got out Raymond Davis.
