. . . . . . .
It was good to see Orya Maqbool after a long time. Been ages that I didn't read his column.

. .
The problem with this argument is that Pakistan has never had any infrastructure , all the items that we had developed were
from 60's

We need Mega Projects like Dam creation for Water Supplies
We need Electrical GENERATIOn projects on global scales

Similarly GWADAR port cooperation with China is also beneficial

I am not in favor of taking loans from IMF

I think the Article is written to tell audiance that FAILED PPP government which has not done anything major in term of National Infrastructure development did that for benefit of people of Pakistan ? Yeah right ...

Infrastructure projects are needed to create jobs, move economy

The Issue is BUILD the infrastructure projects but do not take them from IMF approach your allied nations

Unless you fix your national Taxation system , you cannot fix the LOAN eating problem

What has PPP done in last 5 Years ?

NOTHING ...

A hasty deal with UAE
Failure to Sign Iran - Pakistan gas deal
Failure to build anything substantial worth noting in 5 years
Failure to approve Anti terrorism laws to capture culprits

This article is a cheesy review of the book "Confessions of Economic Hitman" by John Perkins.

Confessions of an Economic Hit Man: John Perkins: 9780452287082: Amazon.com: Books

John as per his own "confessions" worked mostly in South America during the cold war years.

Back then, both USA and Communist Russia used money + military force to subdue third world countries while trying to encircle their "enemy" USA or the enemy "Commie Russia".

And the third world leaders and intellectuals willing sold their countries to the highest bidder be it USA or Commie Russia.

This book mainly talks about what USA did in the South American countries

but in the same time

the book miserably fails to highlight what Commie Russians did.

john Perkins is now a sort of a "spiritual guru" who is against big corporations (leftist agenda), non-interference by USA in small countries (leftist agenda), and so called "self help" within small South American countries.

What the self help does in the South American countries is the nationalization of natural resources and thus corruption by the few on the top.

Sort of like what Zulfi Bhutto the mardood did to Pakistani industry back in the 70s. Again a leftist agenda.

I am not saying John Perkins is saying something totally inaccurate.

Instead I am emphasizing the fact that John is following leftist agenda in the USA. But in the USA there is enough momentum in favor of right wing economics, so the USA continues to develop.

As they have sort of a balance between Left wing economists and the right wing economists.

But here in Pakistan, people like Auria jaan and 99% of our policy makers are leftists.

thus Pakistani economy runs on a One wheel leftist side.

And no wonder we are in deep deep deep economic $hite.

I wish Auria types encourage Pakistan to have a balance between left and right win economy and create a balance in the view.

Or at least help their readers by saying "OK, John Perkins is a leftist" so take his views with a grain of salt.

Or OK "Wall Street journal" is a Right winger on economy, so take its views with proper context.,

Unfortunately that doesn't happen.

And generation after generation of Pakistani intellectuals are given one sided training. This result in a myopic anti-Westernism, that in the hands of Mad Mullahs become Islamo-fascism.

Hope you all see now the cost of not having a balance between left and right wing economics.

If right person is assigned to a job and If you me and all Pakistanis look after our countries interests instead of their own personal gains then no IMF and no world bank can screw a country. What Orya is saying or whatever idea he took from whatever book maybe 100% correct but you cannot blame a country (US or Russia) to look after their interests and work for their benefits. World bank and IMF were created to economically control third world countries by US and its allies and everyone knows it but the blame goes to our policy makers and for that reason us voters

.
John is also a well known commie sympathizer

its the corruption that does not allow us to delvelop such projects. all the money which comes through aid goes to the accounts of corrupt people.

Can someone tell what's written in the article ? Or an English copy.
