but thrust of ge-f414 is just 98 kn and with additional systems in mk2 the t/w may remain the same as mk1 only.
also a single engine fighter with low max take of weight capability and low range is disaster for any air craft carrier.

Its too early. PAF is the only foreign airforce which has access to the protypes of J-20 and J-31.

PAF is a highly experianced and Professional organization, it would wait till the prototypes are mature and show capabilities our future air power needs,

Quitting the J-10B which had earlier been planned points to the shift in thinking. PAF maybe thinking to lay low and save up for a decade before going shopping.

Pakistan's defense budget will grow beyond $10 Billion annually in a few years time as our economy recovers, therefore by the end of the decade we would have enough cash to start phasing out our older vipers with 5th gen jets (not necessarily the J-31) as a replacement.

Pakistan and China are in a fairly strong position when compared to other manufacturers in the market and it is because

• Cost of platform
• Satisfi-cing performance
• Complete spectrum armaments and add-ons
• Sanctions free
• Multiple suppliers of spare parts
• Own assembly line (waaao!)

Who doesn't want to learn the art and science of building aircraft and spending a part of their investment back in their own country building trained and learned manpower? No western or non-western manufacturer is able to offer that value and this is where Pakistan and China can capitalize.

And this is also not just selling a platform, this is getting a customer on board.
