Detained (Pakistani) man pleads: 'I'm not a threat to Australia'

Freedom of free speech is no more reality and no you are no more free in a western country if you are a Muslim of Pakistani origin..Your phones are being listened and recorded, and so are your internet activities...
If you fall in the above category, never say anything against the west in your phone calls, even if you are joking and keep you facebook page as much private as possible...Better still...dont bother and close your account on social networking sites.
THis poor chap has been Jailed because he may have joked about NATO on phone with someone in Pakistan..Although NATIO wer the kiilers and none of Pakistanis...And he may have posted some anti western material on Facebook..

Freedom of Speech?.My Arse.....Then they say North Korea is bad..

Its like arresting some american because they talk about war crimes of bush or question validity of his so called war in Iraq..

Every nation has the right to defend themselves if they feel threatened..and there is no other nation on the planet which is more threatened than Pakistan...The people of Pakistan have every right to show solidarity against internal and external threats....Nobody should have problem with that..

Yes, but banned groups must not be the forces to take on what you perceive as "aggression".

Nope its like arresting an American/Australian in Pakistan because they talk against something which Pakistan supports, like the Jihad in Kashmir.

I have yet to see such an arrest

Let me clarify what I meant
He wasn't DECLINED a visa as you said

Now, according to story these are the reasons law enforcement think that he no longer meets the legal criterion

If he consider Afia siddiqui innocent that don't mean he is terrorist. I was referring to this

The Department of Immigration declined to say why Mr Ghumman's visa had been cancelled, but said he was now in the country unlawfully.

"The person no longer met the legal criteria to hold a visa, therefore the visa was cancelled making him an unlawful non-citizen and subject to detention," a spokeswoman said
.

Reason of detention is his unlawful presence in Australia

I don't see any evidence how he was threat for Australia . he was talking about event of NATO attack which we all peoples discussed

That is how media brain washing works. Every Muslims with a beard is now a terrorist to the average Joe.

How many terrorists convicted were captured sporting a full flowing 'scary' beard ?

Yes, I think they have been stereotyped and may be wrongly so but me and many people I know would be a little uncomfortable around such people! Not that anybody should care what me and the people I know say but just saying!

Will you call Baghat singh a terrorist if you are living in Britain because for British he was terrorist ..

Will irish will be arrested if he consider IRA as freedom fighter instead of a terrorist

as far Kashmir even UN consider it disputed

You're still not addressing the main point - for what reason did he not meet the legal criterion? Nowhere it reads that he overstayed his Visa. First he did not meet "some" legal criterion for which his VISA was cancelled because of which he is now unlawfully in Australia.

My previous posts should clearly explain what that "some" is.

exactly.. .

Exactly...But i fail to understand that how a facebook comment or comments and a phone call about a Current affair can be deemed as a threat to country and somebody jailed for that..Thats just ridiculous...

quoted for truth.

Why do we have dimwits here measuring people's faith by the length of their beards? are bearded people a threat to society by what measure?

What does his beard or faith has got to do with his detention?? There's no evidence of his involvement in any shady activity in Australia whatsoever and the Immigration dept is refusing to comment on why they cancelled his visa shows there is a huge bias and prejudice on their part.

This seems to be a clear case of racial profiling.
