May not accurately defined, I did not say to arrest criminals, or political struggle, I just said, to punish government officials and policy changes, simply because public opinion, your examples, I do not think that in this range.

Why not look at countries like Sweden/Canada or Germany the quality of life is very good and they are both democratic states. If one can vote and decide who comes to power it gives 'people power' and a voice to everyone.

First...England was not a 'democracy' during the eras you spoke of.

Second...Democracy is both a goal and a process. Am not going to sugarcoat any starts on being a democracy. For the US, it took a bloody war and in the process it took an even bloodier war for US to being a functional democracy that we are today. For today's aspiring nations wanting to become functional democracies, they have the past experiences of US and other Western countries to draw upon in how to start that process. They have the UN with all of its moral influences and international resources this organization could call upon to assist. The first crucial step is always the allowance of opposition political parties. Without this allowance, democracy cannot grow. The second step is the equally importance of an independent press and in this, there are no shortages of credible third parties like Reporters Without Borders to guide the growth of such an independent press. From these on, it gets even more difficult as there is now fertile ground for debates and violence.

You accept you had a bloody war and a mess. Ok well leave us to be to have our mess stop interfering in our countries pontificating. The process is evolutionary it can not be rushed its like a fine wine. I believe that even you in america do not have the end product. It is strength of democracy that people can show dissatisfaction over government performance and vote it out. It is not its weakness. Ofcourse we cannot all wish for super cool Taliban style government.

If people in non-democracy can't show their dissatisfaction, tell us how come there are tens of thousands of “collective riots” every year in China?

If you vote bad guys out and other bad guys in, that is a weakness! They each takes turn in sucking ordinary man's blood and fating themselves.

the taliban were a bunch of fundo racists, they killed thousands of innocent people, they beat people with metal cable if they saw them on the streets during jama'at time, they used to beat women badly, they used to gauge men's beard with the glass local oil lamp and if it was less than that they would end up being in jail, they were corrupt to teath, they killed anybody once they took the area if they didnt look like them, i dont understand from which side of the taliban should i talk to you. You have to live under the taliban to see who and how they are. If that is islam, then i wont bother to call myself muslim.

Who is supporting taliban here? i am just mentioning that they imposed the shraiah law according to their version of Islam. And this is a fact. The problem with them was their extreme views.

Protests are a sign of a robust democracy; look at the protests occuring in advanced democracies like UK, France, China, etc. There are no protests in Malawi, the US or North Korea.

It does not matter if there is a protest. The governments reaction to the protest is what matters.
