What's new

Delhi hopes Dhaka will address Hefazat's anti-Modi protests

Lol if you have problems with Bengali new year better stop calling yourselves bengalis, stop using the script and the language and adopt urdu or arabic, i know many in bd will prefer this, in some other thread someone was saying to use bd zindabad and not joy bangla, some claim to be arabs from sylhet. No need of living on the fence and fooling the world with a name like Bangladesh if you can't accept bangali culture.

No one has a problem with Bengali New Year you dam Pajeet , do you Indians always pull BS info out of your @ss like that ?

I'll make to stick your logic up your @ss just so you don't fart out anymore nonsense

The Bangladeshi constitution enshrines certain rights for people, going by this principle, it's perfectly within their rights for them to express their dissent against /discontent with, certain customs or norms.

Whether, we agree or disagree with them is a different issue but the point stands, they are free to express their opinions.

As for Bengali new year celebrations, they aren't going anywhere, anytime soon.

Bengali New Year is Bengali New Year it doesn't mater if small group of people think it's bad , most don't think it's bad neither do we think it's bad.
Yeah I hope the same is the case as you say, but seeing pdf bds and hefazat e islam news doesn't paint a pretty pic picture.

I wasn't arguing about their right to peacefully(hopefully) protest though, that can't be stopped. Just bengalis protesting about stopping Bengali new year celebration seems absurd and unbelievable, and paints picture of radicalisation spreading into bd society.

A world largest democracy wants another democracy not to allow people their democratic right of the protest. Are we sure India is a practicing democracy now a days?

The below threats and protest do paint a picture of radicalization into Indian society.

How is it fair to have us in Bangladesh dance to alien Hindu-ani rituals that Indians have been trying to culturally impose on us since 1947?

The latest is Hasina's cabinet adopting the Hindu ritual of lighting dia's (oil lamps) for inaugurating symposia and dressing ministers in Uttario (embroidered skinny shawls). What's next - dhoti and mongol sutra ??

Friggin' stop pushing these crap, unless you want Hefazat type riots again. Don't push your luck Indians.

Be happy with just exploiting us as a big market.

@Atlas bhai didn't they depict the Sheikh as Sri Krishna? This is effing hilarious.... :omghaha:

These pseudo Muslim Hasina Cabinet people (closet atheists I'm pretty sure) are outwardly more Hindu than Hindus themselves....

What Muslim rituals have Indian Hindus adopted lately?

Go on - name a few....

I bet even Shekhar Gupta couldn't name any if asked.
Whole heartedly agree @Bilal9 bhai. Some pseudo Muslim like BAL sycophants and BCL criminals can be like that, but majority Bangladeshi Muslims surely oppose it.

You see that nowadays only very few people celebrate pohela boishakh .

The reason is , Pohela boishak lost its secular bengali appeal during this regime , now it's turned to hindu festival.

You see what idols they use in Mongol shovazatra?

Can it be called any secular ceremony nowadays? See the angry sun who is leading the gods? Why sun is angry ,because Asuras are out of control? Who are these Asuras ? Surely it's us ! So can it still be our festival? No way. But we can return our old days pohela boishakh by ditching those newly invented Hindu elements.

We are not denying anyone's right to peaceful protests.
Also just cause we have radical wings here with unpopular opinions means that whatever is happening in bd is justified and right?

Re-read my comment and you will know how absurd it is to tell another country to crack on her own citizens for practicing their democratic right. To your question of everything happening in Bangladesh - I am not sure if you meant protest specifically or something else. Assuming you are talking about the protest, i'd say yes that is their democratic right to protest minus the attack on train and temples.

Angry sun god who is furious on bangladeshi asuras? Are you listening to yourselves here?
Pohela Boishakh is the first day of Bengali year. It is taken as a time to start new year with fresh ideas, people buy new clothes, have good food and celebrate.

Again me nor any Indian is denying their right to peaceful protest, it's just what they are protesting for is having us concerned.

I know it very well. But nowadays you guys are changing it. Now the style of celebration it in Bangladesh is no longer like old days.

Now all idols are taking place.

.
Bangladesh Zindabad , Bangabandhu Zindbad , do you have any problem?

Besides Zindbad was BAL SLOGAN too before hindutva corrupted it.

No problem in saying Bangla zindabad, we use Hindustan Zindabad too. The problem is going for removal of Joy Bangla usage and using Bangladesh zindabad exclusively. No bengali should have problem saying joy bangla.

From the parade? You saw anyone worship them? If not then how can you claim pohela boishakh is changing?

It's not bad , but the way it's celebrated now is surely bad, and that's why people are turning their back.

Look at the Hindu idols , they are new invention in pohela boishakh celebration.

Why Muslims will be participating in the ceremony, can you provide one good reason?

If govt can return the Bengali nature of this festival, people will join in mass again.

Worship has many different style and nature. When you use symbols that is directly related to another religion ( even if it's monotheistic ) ,still it represent their culture.

As star of David, there is no harm in it , but it's symbol for Judaism so when the case is festival , we can join a Jewish festival but can't claim it as our own. Same goes for cross , you can join in Christian festival, but can't claim anything as Muslim culture or secular culture where cross is presented.

And Hinduism is polytheistic in nature , so there is no way for is to call it as our own culture.

So either it will regain it's secular/neutral nature , otherwise this is not following our culture

After idols of our gods/goddesses, the symbols which can undoubtedly said to be hindu as your examples are the Om

The Swastik

Any other symbol/idol unless you see the person worshipping and he clarifies his devotion to be towards a Hindu deity cannot be said is an hindu idol.
So again if no muslim or hindus are worshipping the "idols" itself then what's the problem here?
A side note what if the hindus did worship the idols and muslims only celebrated as new year knowing where to draw the line, would that be accepted?
