The Court has issued directives to take affidavits from the government employed, semi- government and people getting enrolled in Intelligence agencies to declare their faith.
Furthermore, the court observed that the amount of people hiding their faith in census, and while seeking their identity card is significantly “concerning”, adding that affidavits must be sought from ‘Non-Muslims’, Muslims Pakistanis seeking ID Cards, birth certificate.
IHC also directed the parliament to protect the ‘Khatm-e-Naboowat’ clause because it is a supreme and central part of Islamic faith, and hold intense sensitivity for the Muslims.
The court maintained that if someone is found guilty for deceiving about his/her faith he/she is liable to be prosecuted.
However, the court maintained that the constitution of Pakistan allows freedom of faith and practice.
