I know there are lot of wonderfull bloggers from India in PDF, except a few trollers, I wish that they participate here and share their idea on how to deal with corrupt officials in India.
I think even the GoI can do some thing better to address the issues of the people by sending elected officials to take a talk with the people.
There seems to be a long gap of communication between the people and the one who represent them. The elected just show up for campaign and mostly forget the people for the next 5 years untill the next election comes.
This has to change in India for the betterment of the country and the 1 billon people of our great nation.
I belive that some of the farmers issue regarding land aqusation will be solved with the new bill, yet I am not in favour of the new Bills provision which grants the right for the government to procure farm lands in case the private company is planning to bring a factory that requires the land space of 100 acres or more.I think the new Land acquisition bill will bring down these issues.
You also have to understand that a lot of local politics is also involved in most of the issues in India rather than some real problems for the people [take the case of the protest over the Nuclear Plant in Kudankulam].
Good to see China resolving internal issues peacefully.
The future is bright for people in China and India as in the future we see issues of people from all classes being resolved properly in both these countries.
Really...???CPC leaders indeed have to bow down to the people. We bow down to our own people.
A Chinese court sentenced a veteran activist Friday to nine years in prison for inciting subversion, in what appears to be the most severe punishment handed down in a crackdown to prevent the spread of Arab Spring-style democratic uprisings.
Chen Wei was convicted of incitement to subversion over four essays he wrote and published online, said one of his lawyers. He was detained in February amid an extensive government crackdown in response to anonymous online calls urging Chinese to imitate protests in North Africa and the Middle East.
Then we can say that there are tens of thousands of 'Western stooges' in the current Occupy Wukan event.^ That's just a western stooge, not representative of the people. Everybody is in favor reforming the system and suspicious of anybody promoting "western-style democracy."
Yup!
CPC leaders indeed have to bow down to the people.
In contrast, Indian democracy doesnt have to bow down to the people.
International pressure? From whom? India? Thats a big LOL BS!
What about the international pressure in Korea War in early 1950s?
Back to the topic.
There are other riots around the area in rich Guangdong province. Looks like people in China are having really say. It will definitely touch a raw nerve or two of the CPC.
How daft are you? Did you even read the thread? Nobody in Wukan was looking for revolution. They were protesting about local government corruption. Sorry to let you down. No western stooges there. Then we can say that there are tens of thousands of 'Western stooges' in the current Occupy Wukan event.

If the private company is about go with such a project why not the company themselves buy the land rather than involve the Government. If the later is done, sure the private company will come up with a job offer to one of the farmers family member besides procuring the land at the right market value.
I think the state govt.s' in the future will not interfere with acquisition of land for private companies.
Its happening now as well.
In the Konkan region of Maharashtra, the some villagers were not interested in giving the Land for Reliance SEZ. So, the govt officials took meetings with the villagers and the company was asked to give the land to the farmers not interested in it. But the farmers had to pay back the money they took from the company.
Don't exactly know what happened next. I think the farmers believed that they would be able to keep the compensation and the land too. There were some who went on the streets asking the company to take their land. These issues really amaze me as the opinions can change from house to house in a village too.
i do not know about this incident, but in my village there was a proposal to bring up a new SIPCOT unit to boost the price of land by the elected MLA's of my constituency who have lot of land procured in their name, my father and some of the villages senior members held a protest and the proposal is on hold after that.I think the state govt.s' in the future will not interfere with acquisition of land for private companies.

When corruption is the norm and the people challenged it, that is a revolution. The people's wrath may be highly focused on one issue, but dictators throughout history have instinctively recognized that if you concede to one issue, the people will not be satisfied and will seek other issues to challenge. Expressing an opinion about democracy is a challenge. For now...It is easier to suppress an individual who dare to challenge the big issues than to kill off a large crowd who seeking redress on a smaller issue. But you are naive if you think this will come out to nothing. How daft are you? Did you even read the thread? Nobody in Wukan was looking for revolution. Geez, it's like if some seniors were protesting about social security in USA, and we call it a revolution against Washington federal government because we *really* *really* wanted to believe the whole country is about to revolt against Washington.

land is always a problem in crowded countries and developing countries, because there's more disputes to go around and more people live directly off the land.
