Deadly explosions on Moscow Metro system

Whats wrong in srinagar it is as peaceful as a pigeon since so many years now, unlike your pashtunistan and SW.

is it?

Yes there isnt a terrorism problem there to the same extend we've had security issues in NWFP/FATA. Things are slowly getting better however. And the nature of the conflict is COMPLETELY different. I could easily bring up naxals in india, who have presence in 1/3 of the country....

When curfews are imposed on the local populace; and when that happens (and they feel intimidated) then the calls for freedom come into play again and again. Violence ensues, unless there is a proper political settlement to the problem and there is room for compromise and dialogue.

vicious cycle, isnt it? :)

"Heavy handedness will only result in tit-for-tat attacks."

i stand by my words.....

what happens every time you place APHC Chief under arrest. I agree with AM, lets keep this on topic of Chechna & Russia.

The russian response should be the way the PA are hunting down the TTP thugs.
Pakistan's response has been nothing like what the Russians have done in Chechnya.

Pakistan has gone to great lengths to minimize collateral damage, the Russians have not - they did not do so in Afghanistan and they did not do so in Chechnya.

Issues can only be resolved by bringing both the parties to the negotiation table.Acts like these will be of no use.

Somehow I do not see the Russians under Putin acting so 'rationally' to resolve the conflict.

what happened to defence. pk database.. my profile is not opening

Definitely resolving through talks is good way of bringing peace. But talk with terrorist are a no no.

PA/GOP are not talking to the ttp terrorists and they are right.

Similarly russia shud also not talk to these chechen terrorists but hit them back.

These cowards should have nothing but death... no matter who they are a terrorist is a terrorist death to them all . Enough is enough the people of the world we as a human race are tired of these bastards. I wish them all hell .. may the dead R.I.P .

Rationality does not work with terrorists. What's rational to those who justify killing innocents enmasse in the name of religion?
The writ of a state is greater than petty mental sick fvcks or psychopaths.

In the same vein then, why is Sri Lankan govt's actions termed rational when they successfully suppressed one of the most ruthless, violent separatist movements?

My reference to 'rationality' was from the perspective of the Russian State giving up its 'Genghiz Khan' tactics in subduing the separatist movement in Chechnya.

They should have learned their lesson from Afghanistan. If Russia wants Chechny and Chechens to be part of the Russian Federation, then treating them like humans would be a huge step forward in minimizing support for violent separatists.

why pakistan army is not able to destroy training camps on their land????

these terrorists are defaming pakistan

whats the problem in removing them???
Chechens and Uzbeks have some explaining to do as well, since their men keep coming to Pakistan to wage the same war upon Pakistan as well.

Pakistan army has done the most to destroy terrorist camps, must I remind you we are the only ones who are scoring consecutive wins against the Taliban.

Why all the pakistanies have disappeared from this thread as soon as post related to pakistan involvement in moscow bombings is posted...

previously there were many??
Why are all the Indians monkeying up and down desperately trying to establish links with Pakistan? Even if you browse through the news reports it will only be Indian media laying claim to this without a single shred of evidence and pure speculation only

‘Black Widows’ suspected of Moscow bombings
Updated at: 0600 PST, Tuesday, March 30, 2010

MOSCOW: The Kremlin faced a serious new terrorist challenge yesterday as suspected women suicide bombers were blamed for two large explosions on packed Metro trains in the centre of Moscow that killed at least 38 and injured another 64.

There was rush-hour carnage at Lubyanka station, directly beneath the headquarters of the Soviet-era KGB, which now houses the Federal Security Service (FSB), and at Park Kultury, near the Interior Ministry.

The explosions were blamed on suspected Islamic militants from the Northern Caucasus region, where several prominent separatist leaders have been killed recently by Russian security forces. The bombers may have been so-called Black Widows, Chechen women who have lost family members to the Russian military.

President Medvedev promised to “find and destroy” the organisers of the attacks. “They are simply beasts,” he said, after laying flowers at the platform of the Lubyanka station.

He implicitly criticised the security services for failing to do more to protect the country. “Obviously, what we have done before is not enough,” he said, echoing popular sentiment expressed during radio phone-ins and in online discussions.

Vladimir Putin, the Prime Minister, cut short a trip to Siberia and vowed “the terrorists will be destroyed”.

Witnesses spoke of panic and chaos as the bombs — believed to have been concealed in suicide belts and to contain metal fragments and nails — exploded 40 minutes apart.Valeri, a Metro passenger, said: “I was changing trains at Lubyanka station when I saw people running in opposite directions.

They all looked terribly scared, faces [covered] in blood and soot. When I arrived at Lubyanka platform I saw several bodies on the floor and just one medic trying to help one of them. Not everyone realised there was an explosion. Some of them thought the roof of the station had fallen in.”

Last night, there were reports that the suspected bomber in the Park Kultury attack was aged between 18 and 20, her face sufficiently unmarked as to be recognisable. The other woman’s facial features were also said to be visible. Both women had black hair and wore black clothes.

what is there to defend???

statement of russian ambassador to india?? well i really dont feel the need. its a gud and easy way for her to make sure that indians love her.

and about terrorists going up north escaping from military offensive in pakistan... well do you think we really care. all we care about is that they leave pakistan which is wat we are making sure. we are denying them space in all ways possible. thats the best we can do unless you open your borders for our ISI agents to track the terrorists escaping and then knock them down
and from wat i remember, world never cared when they were coming south to bomb pakistani cities??

about the innocent dead well its always sad to hear about people becoming vicitims of false govt policies be it pakistan or any other country.
