COBRAs were raised purely to fight Naxals- they are not use anywhere else or agiant any other enemy. So excluding units rotating out or training then yes- the entire COBRA force is used against Naxals.

The CRPF has its won logisitcs,admin, service etc wings so COBRA btns are almost 100% (say 95%) made up of combatants.

the exact Number of COBRAs in the feild will always be a closely guarded secret but let's say ~4/6ths.

Secondly, WHY ON EARTH would you print that in the media? Now everyone knows about it!

This kind of strategy relies on being secretive! If they know that there might be GPS trackers in their guns, the first thing they will do is check all the new guns, and it's not hard to find a chip if you are looking for it.

Friend of mine is serving in Maharashtra police. Even though Maoist aren't that strong in our state some of the parts of the state specifically the border part of Gadachiroli Dist are No go for police. And even CRPF don't make a movement in that area without considerable man power.

I don't know about the stat cover you mention but I am sure Maharashtra police don't get any stat intel. Don't know about CRPF get it or not. But I think the article is saying CRPF lack the real time intelligence and the the poor human intelligence network. Human network is always going to be poor in this area.

Listen those terrorists resorted to such tactics after being terroried by our own govt. They have been on the receiving end of injustice for a long time. Either you do nothing and get treated like **** or take to arms to stop the atrocities being committed against you and your family. You act like they just went this route so williingly without thinking of the consequences. Did you ever consider and find out if those cops and politicans or the upper caste ppl who committed such crimes against them were arrested or punished? You act like feudal politics has completely ended in India while it still goes on in remote places in India! As for development, thats a great point. Our govt has done **** for so long. All I see are ppl who protect these scumbag politicans and never demand justice by doing nothing. That poor girl that died in Delhi could have been prevented if politicans passed stricter laws. Instead of doing that, they just accepted it and did nothing. Women's right organizations have been asking this for 2-3 decades! They only decided to act a little after how many have died or been raped? Look at the way some politicans have blamed women for these problems. Its not the women, it's our society.



I know the Maoists haven;t been completely good either. Even if we win this war against them, are we ever going to change anything? Or we going to sit back and see them regroup into a poweful force once again.

may be the battery life's news is not correct..may be its just a trap so that they pick the guns the next day..thinking that gps wudnt function and while those ppk take them all their camps and locations are being disclosed...or who knows may be they've planted the gps which took them and this news is just to mis lead them..or crpf just want to deprive them of all the weapons by the stories like this...it could be anything....

We are having 10 Btn
- say 2 will be in the trainning/retraining all the time. One goes out next come in
- say 2 will on lauch bases ready to jump in
- say 2 will on standby for unclautaled senarios

So it will give us only 4 BTN actually working in e field. ( all these 2s are guesses. We don't know exact number. But this is how it works in army. So will be with CRPF. )

If they are in the favour of development and progress why they are blowing up roads schools and hospitals. Idiots even terrorise the doctors working in the area. I think the Maoists hijacked the movement from the naxals who willingly joined for guidance and supply. Sadly, both joined for different purposes but both complemented each other.
