Crossbows have been used for military purposed for several millennia. One might also assume that with the advent of more modern and more lethal weapons that the crossbow would have been replaced by more modern weaponry. While this is largely true, there are still many active applications for crossbows in modern warfare and in guerrilla actions worldwide.

In Europe, the British manufacturer of Barnet crossbows supplied many to the Serbian military that used them "in ambushes and as a counter-sniper weapon" against the Kosovo Liberation Army in the Kosovo War. Special Forces in Greece and Turkey are still using crossbows for military purposes due to their psychological effect as silent killers. The Green Berets of Spain continue to use crossbows as well.

As Pakistan can't send support to the Kashmiris due to FATF. There is a way to arm the Kashmiri resistance with crossbows, which is silent and lethal weapon for guerrilla warfare and it is easy to make from local resources. The difference between bows arrows and crossbows is that crossbows are more accurate.
There are plenty of tutorials online on how to make wooden crossbows. This is the cheapest and lethal weapon you can make. One hit on neck would bring down the enemy who won't be able to alert by firing gun.

Give them rpgs ok not toys
Aim is to make them self sufficient in making their own toys without any help. As they have no means to buy or get guns and weapons inside Kashmir. This weapon in hand of group night hunters is a lethal weapon to bring down an army step by step in surprise attacks. More over it can be used in cities where your enemy is at close range. The more crossbows people will have the more the occupying force will be afraid to roam on roads.

I am not a guerrilla warfare specialist but this looks like a brilliant idea. It will have the same psychological effect as the beheadings of police personnel had on the police dept and local populace alike by those ttp terrorists back in 2009.

Contrary to popular belief, crossbows are not completely silent. High powered ones actually make quite a lot of noise. There is also the issue of long reloading time and high drop rate.

If given a choice between a rock and a crossbow, i'd go for the latter 10 out of 10 times. If you're gonna fight, fight like you really mean it otherwise don't bother.

That’s a good point. But I think slingshots are better for skirmishes. Faster reload/easily acquired ammunitions.

Better give them guns instead of a crossbow, throwing stones, you get maybe tear gas, grenade, rubber bullets. Crossbows -- you get fired at, and you can't return the fire in time because you're holding a crossbow and busy loading next arrow beside the crossbows do not even penetrate a stab-proof armor let alone Kevlar.

A cheap single shot throw away cross bow has been effective in guerrilla wars in the past, esp in the Americas. Fire, forget, melt into the background or even into a crowd and escape carefully.

The problem the guerrillas have is targeting the occupiers from a safe distance, then evading capture or later detection by video surveillance review.

Kashmiri's need Ak47's, RPG's and IED's. If Pakistan can't get it to them
then use the Ladakh side.

What happens to all those wepons confiscated from TTP in Pakistan?
All those weapons need to be given to Kashmiri's, kill the Indians with their
own weapons.

You may have a point too but i don't know how effective they might be. They might cause injury but not sure they can kill a man wearing a helmet unless offcourse he gets it right on the nasal septum.

They aren't meant to be used in an open gun fight.

I think an arrow shot from a strong crossbow has more velocity and therefore inertia than a stab by a dagger inflicted at full force. Regarding the guns, i know you're being a sarcastic retard here but for the sake of argument we have a lil problem known as fatf.

Crossbows are used to hunt a single target at a time when it is unaware of the coming arrow. Means your target is on watch at a distance of 50 feet from the other soldier. If the aim is good that soldier will go down quietly struggling to stop the blood from neck. Obviously it is not recommend for one on one confrontation when your opponent is firing bullets at you. But good for surprise attack.
