CRH380A set new record of world HSR operating speed

Congratulations to CSR Sifang Factory!

at 11:40 AM, September 28, 2010, Top speed of a CRH380A train during trial operation on Shanghai-Hangzhou PDL HSR reached 416.6 km/h (259 mph). Break China & World record on non-maglev high-speed rail operating speed, the previous world record was 403.7 km/h (251 mph) reached by Siemens Velaro In July 2006, and previous China record was 394.3 km/h (245mph) reached by CRH3C on June 24, 2008, on the Wuguang PDL

It's all over the news now.

The trial operation seems to be a success despite the drizzle.

and in later news, the CRH380A finished the 202 km Huhang PDL travel in 40 minutes at a average speed of 303km/h.

the Huhang PDL is a 350km/h class HSR line set to open by October, 2010, and the designed travel time from Shanghai to hangzhou is 38 minute, at average speed of 318.947 km/h

No offence to the progress on high speed rails but you guys need to produce something other than planes and trains for a change. Think small; think semiconductor.

More importantly, the Shinkansen test run got to 443 km in 1996. I think it's a bit dangerous for you guys to run a "trial operation" at 416.6 km. Either that or Chinese engineers have actually improved it over the 14 years. Let's hope it's the latter...

In any case, it's nice to see you guys step closer to the "380 km commercially operational by the year's end" goal. While at it, don't derail it into "Made in China."

U can not compare operate record and test record. Shinkansen use X300(not 300) set 443Km/H record and Alstom use TGV150 set 574.8Km/H record, both this two style are only for test and not for operate till now.
When TGV150 set the record I see the live online. the wonderful work French did. They use three engine drive three cars and run in special reinforcement line. But all they want is test and not for operate.
CRH380A is so young and we still lack experience. But the trial is not for test, it is same with operate drive full cars and many people. so we only call it operating speed. It is like the car speed record is 1300KM/H so U call Porsche and Ferrari is nothing to say about.

416.6km/h
this figure can not even pass the CET-4 examination!

Considering it is rainy today in Shanghai and Hangzhou, I hope CRH380 can pass 425km/h in some sunny day.:D

When U talk about hi-speed railway, Japanese has the most advanced tech. They operate hi-speed ralway since 1964. if the noise is not considered they even can operate average 400Km/H long ago. their train is most stable and comfortable, and safest of all.

we don't claim to be the world innovator at this stage, the progress we are making today is built on top of the continuous innovation of the west.

the purpose of our investment in all these areas are crystal clear - to improve the life quality of the general public in China so eventually it can match the western standard in about 30 years.

If China overtakes others in semi-conductor designs, more people in silicon valley will get pink envelopes. Let's give these people a chance to continue with their employment.

September 30 & October 1, CRH380A enter temporary service at Huning PDL (Shanghai-Nanjing HSR), during the test operating, top speed reach 342km/h.

. . . . . . .
Do any of these trains have sleeper coaches like the conventional ones?
