As far as i know "cheeni" is the hindi/urdu word for Chinese people, which obviously come from word "Cheen" which is the hindi/urdu word for China.

Although that word has deformed and become "chinky" and is very commonly used to refer to "Chinese people or any oriental looking person" by Indians and also by the Pakistanis i have known, when talking in hindi/urdu. To be honest its not used in a racist way at all, i know i don't , its more of a colloquial name.

I don't want to undermine anyones efforts here, but there are a lot of bad stereotypes about China in South Asian countries, Pakistan included. I'll give some examples,

There's this term in hindi/urdu"chinese maal/saman" maal=manufactured goods. Now chinese maal is a synonym for "cheap and unrealizable" stuff. People don't realize that you get what you pay for. They don't realize the fact that most of the other "high end" western branded product they buy also happen to be made in China making it "chinese maal" too

If Girls with "mongoloid" features work at some hair dressers and beauty saloons, those places without failure get referred as "Chinese massage parlours" even though they are just your normal hair saloons.

Stuff like these i find really offensive. In my honest opinion racial stereotyping is worse than just using some colloquial names.

As far as Pakistanis calling Indians black yes agreed there are some very pale skinned Pakistanis out there, but there are at least 100 million Indians and 100 million Pakistanis who can easily go to each others countries without ever being noticed. How do i know that? cause when i visited Pakistan and no one knew i was of Indian background until i told them

Also South Asians use the term"Kaala/Habshi/Kallu" to refer to people of African origin without a fail. That too needs to change.

Pakistani members back me up if i am right. Also surely Chinese people have names for us Indians too in Mandarin. What do Chinese people refer to Indian sub continent people as? Care to share?

In Hong Kong, the phrase "ah cha" (阿&#24046 is sometimes considered abusive towards Indians, but not nearly to the extent of the n-word in the West. It originated from the colonial times when the British used to bring Indians over as "policemen" in Hong Kong, and those police got this nickname.

In the Chinese mainland, "a san" (阿&#19977 is the equivalent, and it literally means "three". This was due to Nehru once claiming that India was the leader of the third world.

Neither of them are nearly as bad as the n-word or ch*nk in the West. I think the most abusive terms in the Chinese language, are reserved for the Japanese...
