CPEC has always been marketed as Pilot project for OBOR. Do I need to educate you what pilot projects mean? That is why on the ground, you see everything happening within CPEC, the investment, actual physical infrastructure to support the trade and energy, while the rest of OBOR is still on paper and meetings. I would go on as far as saying that OBOR is smoke screen where CPEC is the real deal, the easiest way for China to tap into ME and Iranian energy resources.

The opposition from US is understandable. There is nothing for US to gain in CPEC, if not losing anything like influence. If one looks closer to the whole OBOR initiative, it involves largely the countries that US either ignores or disregards. It is a call like "ignored countries by US, unite!". I doubt US would say anything positive about that.
