Could BD deploy air defence destroyer in rivers?

Seriously why you care?

If BD spends a few millions looking at river-based air-defence systems, then that is up to
BD and of no concern to India or Indians.

I think half the reasons Indians want to rubbish anything BD defence related is that they want a weak
country they can bully.
Yeah bro true said. It seems, from what I see some these ******** post here, utter jealousy or just seem to not want BD to be strengthening anything or improving anything, they either have some sort inferiority complex or perhaps worry for future threats from BD.
What ever it is. Indians need to stop being paranoid and stop having too much to mouth about on what BD does or not. It's BD money and choice, whatever the BD gov wants; it will do, to improve itself.

My advice to Indians here. Is that; it is better for them to come with a plan for sorting out their toilet problems in their country, rather than then wasting their time on BD threads, commenting in paranoia of BD enhancing/developing itself.

.
I was wondering if this idea could possibly work?

Indians have been bragging that in war that they could take out all BD defence assets in hours if not minutes.

So, why not deploy an air-defence destroyer or two in one of the country's major rivers like the Brahmuputra
in times of war? Not only will this protect the ship from enemy submarines but it will also be a very hard to hit a moving platform that could also provide air-defence to most of BD in times of war.

PS - I am talking about having this up and running by 2030 when BD military modernisation is complete.

You float you submarines in ponds against evil Indians. Little loser. :D

.
Say BD would buy something like Type-052D next decade.

You don't deploy destroyer in river. HQ16[] type of systems are mobile and can be moved around according to needs.
Real issue is how to deter indian airforce. First and foremost Bangladesh need to make sure none of indian airforce base within 150 to 200 KM are not operable.

.
Not to forget, ofcourse, that BD doesn't have any destroyers and the last ships it bought were two corvettes and they also received two retired, unarmed, coast guard cutters which they are planning to weaponise.

The first thing they want to do with their non-existant ship is to sail it inland when there's a war.

Pretty much says everything about these people.

How can that be done with BAL and RAW feeding us every piece of intel we need?

Your 2nd part is very kind of you...making sure none of our bases are not operable is great! (100% operability thanks to your suggestion)....is it BD janitors and labourers you will be sending to help India in the war effort against your own country?

ya i dont get it , why not just mount SAM's on oh i dont know boats or trawlers ? why do you want to bring destroyer in a river in the first place

. . .
Which would bring devastating floods to Bangladesh, suicidal much?

Nah , BD can create a deep lake on it's side of border to take the excess volume.

It is something long overdue anyway.

why go to all that trouble when you can just arm soldiers with man pads and set up mobile sams in huge numbers at any point in bd ? destroyers are meant to be first ship of the line not used as a sitting sam. any destroywers bd buys will be for protecting nearby ships to prevent an indian blockade. investing in mobile sam units, long+ short range sams + manpads will be more than enough to teach indian aircraft a lesson.

deploying a destroyer in a river is like deploy an elephant in a swamp it will lost its credibility better to deploy land base system of s 300 or s400 or hq 9 near mejor cities or if u wanna create a no flying zone over west bengal assam and ne states deploy them on border cities and we have enough forest and trees in village areas to hide them like vietnamis did in vietnam war

I am more interested at acquiring S-400 long range SAM after getting LY-80E medium range SAM. Put one battery of S-400 near Dhaka and the entire country will come within it's range. It will cost us around 1.2 billion dollar. We should afford it.

Yeah - say as you wish but if this idea is feasible then BD will eventually adopt it. It may not be an air-defence destroyer but could be some other form of river-based transport with a modified land-based SAM system put on it.

Just because this has never been done before does not mean it will not be suitable for a country for it's unique geography and time.

No-one ever thought about massing tanks in formations till it was proposed by a Frenchman 20 years after WW1.
This idea was adopted by Germany and their tanks rolled through Europe for many years in WW2.

What mainly Indians and one Myanmarese think is completely irrelevant.
