Concern over Rohingya crisis is growing in Indonesia

Well China was/is supporting rebels in Myanmar..so part of the refugees in China+ Myanmar strike in China are related to this. China has helped rebels in India and Myanmar, so that already means China's hand is dirty. Just stating facts bro.Murika wanted Myanmar for the same reason it "wants" North Korea and Iran- new untapped markets for US products and services. I bet China has/will not deliver free relief aid to muslims.

lol You make me laugh. Okay, whatever when you feel happy.
Murika supported rebels in Myanmar during the cold war, like Murika supported the Taliban in Afganistan in the first time, later Murika throw them away when they are worthless to murika. lol you are really foolish poster, dude.

The fake caring of Rohingya by other Muslim countries are worse. In fact they are being used as pawns for political objectives.
It's harsh reality but deep down inside you know no Muslim countries or western countries care what happens to Rohingya.
How does wanting rohingya to have a citizenship equal being a pawn for political objectives?

Why dont you admit that you are a minority Hindu (or Buddish).....? As a minority Hindu you do have big mouth and ungrateful to majority Muslim who has protected you since you are kid. Do you still remember with Ahok big mouth that send him to the jail ? And a more recent news where 40 yeard old lady Buddish are sent to the jail for 6-10 month due to her protest to the mosque loud speaker ?

LOL after reformation, Indonesia constitution can be change if MPR willing to do so, you Nationalist and minority cannot go against the new rule (InshaALLAH). Many amendment has already been done.

Talking about Hizbuttahir, this organization is legal under Habibie, Gusdur, Megawati, and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Only after you guys lost in Jakarta election, and judicial system send Ahok to the jail Nationalist power element in Jokowi camp (PDI-P) try to fight back by banning Hizbuttahir.

For your information, banning Hizbuttahir is not weakening Islam politics at all and make the score 1:1. HTI is a small organisation with dangerous and stupid idea. Banning HTI makes Islam politics able to focus all of the resources into a better and clever fight, which is through democracy system. Current system is very accommodating our interest and goal.

Hizbuttahir want to make Khilafah. LOL Stupid idea. Why dont make a more clever one like Islamic NATO. No need to eliminate nations to bring Muslim unity. Thats why eliminating HTI is a very good idea for us.

Talking about Pancasila, it is not made by Soekarno, but by Moehamad Yamin, thats why our Islamic Tauhid foundation become Pancasila first pillar, the most important ones. The other Pancasila pillar is still posses Islamic value. Pancasila is very Islamic, we are very comfortable and satisfied with it.

Before you accuse me as terrorist, first you need to learn basic politic. Here, I educate you that there is always an Islamist and a Nationalist in Indonesia (and other Muslim nations). Our nation is made by compromise between the two power. You cannot accuse me as terrorist if I am in the side of Islamist (Political Islam).

The Islamist have made huge contribution to the nation. The one who fight in the independence war are majority the Islamist, even our first TNI (Armed Force) leader is Sudirman who is a Muhammadiyah activist. Many Islamist in Masyumi become prime ministers during our independence war. The Islamist also become the power to scrap the communist (with the help of anti Communist Armed Force general like Soeharto). And the Islamist also play big rule in reformation (Amien Rais). Islamist is contributing to the nation technology (including all of state defense companies) since Habibie is an Islamist.

Many maybe also accuse all of the Islamist are in Prabowo camp. False. Many are supporting Joko Widodo (Jokowi), including me. Yusuf Kalla is an Islamist as well, who is pro Anis Sandi. Overall Jokowi has made good progress. But if Jokowi go against Islam (by even saying something wrong about Islam) just like what Ahok did, All of the Islamist will be united again just like in Ahok case and it is that is feared by Jokowi. Thats why Jokowi pick Ma'ruf Amin who is a hardliner Islamic cleric to be his running mate. As we know several Islamic party are also in Jokowi camp, Islamist power in this election is not united.

Who do you think you're a hero or a slain, protecting minority from who? People like you with bom on your bag... Come on, Indonesia is Indonesia all equal there're no majority or minority. What kind of people you are, respect our Pancasila Idiology, you soon be down to the bottom with your wahabis idea

Observers fear abuse of Muslim minority in Myanmar could give rise to regional tensions

There is rising concern in majority Muslim Indonesia that the treatment being meted out to ethnic Muslim Rohingya by military forces in Myanmar could lead to regional tensions.

Islamic organizations have joined calls to end the conflict while Jakarta is making efforts to deal with the crisis which has forced tens of thousands to flee, amid a bloody military crackdown in Myanmar’s ethnically divided Rakhine State after border police were attacked and killed in October.

The UN estimated at least 65,000 refugees were in camps in Bangladesh, while Dhaka has said some 50,000 Rohingya have crossed its border in the last two months.

Nahdatul Ulama, Indonesia’s largest Islamic organization has said the conflict is totally unjustified and has injured human values.

"Muslims in general feel the pain because of the Rohingya’s suffering," the organization’s leaders said in an official statement.

They called on world leaders, Southeast Asian countries and the United Nations to take concrete measures to end the violence and show humanitarian solidarity

Muhammadiyah, Indonesia’s second largest Islamic organization said the Rohingya crisis was "violating and trampling human rights."

Anwar Abbas, its chairman called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation — an international organization with 57 member countries — to act firmly against the Myanmar government.

"If this continues then it is not impossible to invite new tensions that threaten the peace of the world," he warned in a statement.

He also expressed deep disappointment over inaction by Myanmar’s leader, State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and urged the revocation of her Nobel Peace Prize.

In Malaysia thousands of people, led by Prime Minister Najib Razak took to the streets on Dec. 4, branding the Rohingya situation as "genocide".

Similar but smaller protests have also occurred in Indonesia.

In November, hundreds of Indonesians protested outside the Myanmar embassy in Jakarta, calling for an end to the "genocide."

Indonesia’s government has made diplomatic overtures with Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi meeting Aung San Suu Kyi twice last month: on Dec 6 and Dec 19.

Marsudi said that such diplomatic efforts have been taken to try and bridge communications between Myanmar and Bangladesh, whose relations have continued to deteriorate because of conflicts in their border areas.

"I’m carrying out diplomacy carefully and without creating a tumult, because the Rohingya conflict is a very sensitive issue related to a fully sovereign state; the sovereignty of a state must be respected," she told Antara news agency.

Daniel Awigra, Asean program manager at the Jakarta-based Human Rights Working Group said Indonesia can be an example of the process of democratization for Myanmar.

Indonesia was built on diversity and so is Myanmar, he said, So Myanmar could see Indonesia as a state with credible democracy.

However, "what needs to be paid attention to is the agenda of sending humanitarian aid for Rohingya, investigation into crimes and security sector reform as well as the elimination of the 1982 citizenship law which rejects Rohingya identity," he said.

Father Agustinus Ulahayanan, secretary of the bishops’ commission for ecumenical and inter-religious affairs, said the Rohingya issue "is about ethnicity and politics."

He thanked Muslim leaders for not linking the issue to religious sentiments.

For the Catholic Church, he said, the Catholic community will never close its eyes to any humanitarian crisis.

"I heard that a few dioceses had launched a solidarity movement. Even a diocese, of which I cannot mention for a certain reason, had collected money during a Sunday Mass to help our Rohingya brothers and sisters," he said.

Similarly, Sahat Martin Philip Sinurat, chairman of the Indonesian Christian Student Movement, called on the Indonesian government not to link the Rohingya issue to religious sentiments.

The Rohingya issue is an issue of citizenship, not a religion-based one, he said.

Muslims are increasingly becoming a threat for the Burmese. I think Bangladesh should take full responsibility of the rohingya people because they are also muslims and are genetically related.

What threat ? I dont get it. Can you explain what kind of threat it is ? The way Myanmar treat their minority is beyond moral understanding. How come they dont get "even" a citizenship ???

Myanmar does not treat minorities inhumanely as depicted in the media especially in Muslim controlled medias like Aljazeera and Pakistani newspapers like Dawn and Express tribune. Yes muslims, however, are somewhat hated. Our current Vice President is a Christian and non Buddhists are very free in Myanmar. Even we have many top officers in the Burmese army from non Buddhists. However muslims are least tolerated in Myanmar. Muslims of Myanmar are wicked people and always conspires against the majority Buddhists and that's why Ashin Wirathu and other monks are against muslims. But if you are a Hindu or a Christian you would not have issues.

UN panel did accuse Myanmar doing atrocities close to the genocide. The Chairman of UN panel is an Indonesian, Marzuki Darusman, he is a respectful person in Indonesia.

I think the hate between you guys need to be stopped. You need to learn from Indonesia. There is religious war happening in Ambon during 1999-2002. There was Aceh war as well, but with the help of ALLAH we can solve the problem and make peace among us.

Listen brother, you are an outsider you have no idea what it's like to live in a troubled state. Myanmar is a battleground between USA and NATO on one side and China, India and Russia on the other side. Myanmar is rich in natural resources and so big powers are constantly creating trouble in our country. We have hundreds of insurgent groups who are being funded and operated by foreign countries who are constantly creating unrest in Myanmar. Do you think in this situation we would be peaceful and turn a blind eye to whats actually happening here? We are violent, yes, but its just because we are constantly under threat.

I agree . Its always national interest first and micro relationship second. People are entitled to their opinion but people who live there will have a better idea of the real situation.
MY is a battleground. Last thing you want is US on your soul forever.

this thread is ridicolous, there no such kind of big news back here in Indonesia, I don't know how much he get paid for make this thread in international forum...

shame

Even if you are correct, that is not a justifiable reason for genociding them.

The hell you talking about some rohingya refugees in Aceh prefer to be killed by our hands than go back to Burma.

Is that not a testament to Myanmar's brutality I don't know what is then.
