Did you bother to examine the image you posted? India's poverty rate is clearly given as 22%. The numbers are also given - 270 million out of about 1.2 billion, which is around 22%, and decrasing every year. As opposed to your ridiculous claim of 70%. Ah what the heck, it's actually 150%, happy?

Hey mam you should be worried about your own country when 70% of your country men are living lives beyond poverty level and your pm instead of improving economy, is making new military hardwares as they did recently by testing Agni 5.

Indians below poverty line is around 30% and not 70%. Please don't come up with inflated figures. India is 6 times bigger then Pakistan. I am hopefull,poverty will be reduced in future. But this is off topic,but why r foreign leaders avoiding Pakistan. U have written in your earlier reply that "And defence is as essential for us as our economy." A few days there was petrol crisis followed by electricity,well petrol & electricity r not essential. To pay your intenational debts, Nawaz Sharief goes to saudi for aid. Indians don't go with a begging bowl. U can also make new military hadwares & fire more missiles but that will not change the ground reality inside Pakistan.What about extremism,insurgency in Balochistan,ethnic voilence in Karachi

My guess is that we won't hear from him for some time, after that self goal. Funny isn't it, that some people are so blinded by their desire to throw dirt at their neighbours, that they themselves post statistics completely contradicting their own statements, blithely oblivious of the self mockery? He puts up an image showing 22% poverty in India, to support his statement of 70%. Anyway, on a single day, on PDF these numbers are always bandied about - 600 million poor, 70 percent poor, 90 percent poor, blah blah. And all that on a thread about Pakistani affairs.

@RescueRanger was just telling me that my comments about Pakistan's issues are unwarranted, and that they will manage their country. And yet, most of his countrymen on this thread are already "weeping" (gloating, rather) for India's poor, on a thread about Pakistan. I wonder which is more unwarranted - me commenting about Pakistan on a thread about Pakistan, or Pakistanis commenting about India's poverty on a thread about Pakistan.

But fromthe graph .All I can 7 to 8 states.We have 28 states.


And World total poverty is 18% according to that graph .Then where did you pull out 21.4% number?From your rear?

Ok I admit my claim of 70% may be wrong but still this is the bare fact that 21% of total poor population of world are living in india. But still india instead of improving its own internal problems and growing poverty and malnutrition are happy in embarking on tour of Mars and making new military toys. And hell it dont even hesitate of giving lecture to its neighbors about how they should propagate.

India is very much improving the lives of her people, and over the past decade, has pulled hundreds of millons (yes, that's right) out of poverty. And by the way, India's poverty is not "growing", it is fast diminishing. I know that's not what you like to hear, but that's the truth. Just as poverty rate is not 70% but a much more modest 22%. If you want to talk about India, at least inform yourself about India.

I meant to say that india constitutes 21% of total POOR population of planet.
